Located just 2 minutes west of the intersection of HWY 503 and NE 149th st in between Vancouver & Battleground. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS DOG PARK. If you’re not from the area, it’s absolutely worth the drive. WIDE open spaces with a stunning view of Mt. Hood on a clear day.

Dakota dog park (Dakota Dog Park is listed with photos and videos along with other dog parks in my reviews) is the closest park to my house. However, Luna and I venture out into the country to enjoy the peace and solitude of this huge wide open Park. I really enjoy the other dog owners that frequent here as well. If you’ve got a dog that likes to play a little rough, like jumping, tackling and mouthing other dogs this is the place that has the pups and cool pup owners for you. I have found when taking Luna to inner-city dog parks throughout Portland that other dog owners are intimidated by her energy level. Where is out in the country other dog owners seem to have a full understanding that that’s just how some breeds operate.

I cannot fathom why other reviews of Lucky memorial dog park mention “mud pit”? I suppose the area around the running water faucet could be considered muddy? As you can see from my pictures and videos, both the large dog park and the small dog park are all solid grass and bark chip trails.

If I had to sum up this dog park in one word, it would be...

Lucky Memorial dog park in Brush Prarie is an amazing park. The open field of the park is great for dogs to runaround and play with other dogs. The path along the perimeter of the park is perfect for walking around with your dog and for meeting new people to walk with. There is a wonderful Nature Reserve that you enter through the back gate of the dog park. There are wonderful trails to explore with your dogs and on hot days walking through the woods helps cool down dogs and their humans. The park is full of regulars and always has a very friendly vibe. The park used to have an agility course that is currently closed off. No word yet that I know of if the agility course will be open again. The park has a water spout for the dogs. You will need to bring your own bowls unless your dog drinks from a spout. There is a small park with a separate entrance for small and shy dogs so that your dog will be away from the bigger and outgoing dogs. There are usually bags stocked to clean up after your pet. My dog loves going to this park. She always has a blast for hours. I recommend this dog park for anyone who would like a happy and relaxing place to take their fluffy...

Updating my previous 5* to 4*, mostly because of irresponsible humans. Don't get me wrong, this dog park is really nice. There's running water from April through October for the dogs, there are paths, plenty of parking and separate areas for 'general population' as well as 'small dog/shy dog' area. Here is how people are irresponsible: there have been plenty of instances where dogs have no recall. That's a real problem if they jump up on other people and get into other people's and dogs' spaces. People feed other people's dogs. They don't ask. People bring their dog's toys. If I have my large dog in the 'shy dog' area and you bring in your dog with toy and no recall without asking if it's ok (which I believe you should as I would ask before bringing my dog into that area), I am pointing out my dog has resource guarding issues and you continue to throw the ball for your no recall dog that doesn't even fetch, essentially leaving you playing golf, that can create a problem. Meanwhile, in the larger area what sounded like a dog fight between three dogs broke lose, leaving me no other choice but to leave instead of being able to safely exercise and...

I came across this large dog park when visiting the Groth Nature Preserve/Lauretta Norene Forest Preserve. It is literally right next to these trails, and where I parked. It is a beautiful dog park in a wonderful location, surrounded by several large open grass fields that are very well maintained. I had fun watching all the dogs here play. When I was on the hiking trail closest to the dog park area, there was one dog that kept running by me at torpedo speeds, back and forth. It was so adorable to watch because I could tell he was getting out his last spurt of energy before going home. I wish I would have caught him on video, because I believe it would have went viral! 😂 I had dogs for most of my life, so I went to dog parks on a regular basis for years, and I have to say that this is one of the nicest dog parks I have been to. The dogs were all very friendly and so were their owners. 🐕

I will never return here. We have been going for years and mostly kind and responsible dog owners. However, there are a few that are ruining it. My dog was attacked by 2 large dogs (they were together) my dog is fine but I had my four year old with me and I was totally helpless. I was yelling at the dogs to get off of her and the owner, finally, leisurely walks over and recalls them. She did not leash her dogs or leave after that. When I told her how scared we were, that she should have leashed her dogs or left, she said blamed my dog. She did not care whatsoever. She is a walking liability and her dogs will do that again. This park runs on donations and volunteers, it’s sad because it’s a nice area but it will be lost to growth. They are asking for donations and help to save this park but that’s tough when you have others that are completely rude and irresponsible dog owners.
