Whaley Ranch — Attraction in Bay Minette

Two of my children (12yo, 9yo) are finishing up their last week of Horse Care for Beginners. Neither one have any experience with horses, so I was unsure how they would like the class. They loved it! Stephanie is a wonderful teacher. She spends time explaining each topic (horse anatomy, safety, feeding, grooming, etc) for maybe the first fifteen minutes, then allows the students to safely interact with the horses. This type of approach and hands on technique makes learning enjoyable and so much fun! All of the horses at the Whaley Ranch are well taken care of and are experienced with people. My sons (13 and 11) have taken 2 Horse Care classes with Stephanie. My children had not ever been around horses and this was the perfect introduction. She was very thorough with instruction, and the children were able to learn about horses and horse care, and then interact with her very gentle horses. They have really loved it. We took our classes in the early spring. Although her place is a little off the beaten path, it was really pleasant to spend an hour at her peaceful ranch, sitting outside under the pine trees, watching the chickens and goats scamper around.
