Around Milwaukee | 11 Stunning Icefall Viewing Spots You Must Visit

This is one of my favorite Parks in the area. There's ample parking, it's always clean and there is a lot of space to spread out for kids and adults. Just off the parking lot there is a decent sized playground and sand area. The equipment is in great shape and suitable for youngers and olders- my kids range in age from 1 to 9 and everyone has a great time with out me having to hold the 1 year olds hand the whole time. There's have a good amount of swings and baby swings. Right next to the playground is an exercise station. It's a great park for jogging. Lots of paths and trails. Lots of flats and elevations to help you get a full work out in beautiful surroundings. One of the best features of Doctors is the paved paths that lead down to a great section of beach. The paths start just off the playground and head into the forest. Great tall trees, lots of plants, and a small ravine runs along side the path. It's really a beautiful place. There are also lots of trails off the paved path. And if you need a rest there are benches peppered along the paths. The paths all lead down to a beautiful stretch of beach. All sand and smooth stones and drift wood. If you walk along the beach there are usually things people have made with the wood and stones. Little lean-to structures and little stone mosaics. People have a good time. And it inspires the kids to try to make things too! If you head north on the beach there's a trail leading to the Audubon Nature Center- great place! Pack a lunch, bring a blanket and get out in nature. Bring a date. Bring your kids. Bring the whole family! It's a great way to spend a day!

Jun 2025 - This is still a nice park, however if you are going to hike DO NOT go down the SOUTH PATH to the beach! The trail itself is fine but once you get to the beach there are MOUNDS of dead fish everywhere. I could barely walk around them. The lake runs almost up to the tree line so I had to crawl over some logs as well. The smell was awful and there were flies everywhere which made the experience so horrible. It's like that for the majority of the "beach" although you can't really call that part a beach, until you get to where the main steps end. If you're visiting this park, only walk down the central path or the main stairs and avoid the south path. July 2023 - Love this park! Right on the water and the walk down to the beach is less than 15 minutes. Good place to walk a dog, but they are not allowed on the beach itself.

Still the most beautiful lakefront park in Milwaukee. And yet it feels like we have to push a boulder up the gigantic hill from the beach to bring back the glory of its past. The bathhouse and stairs are in disrepair. The ravine trail is nearly impassable. The stream to the lake is blocked up. Biting flies swarm in winds under 10 mph. It should be a dog friendly beach (because everyone brings their dogs here anyway and no one minds at all), but the signs all say no dogs allowed.

Friends of Doctors Park have ongoing campaigns to raise money for the needed projects, but why should they? The MKE county park system should have addressed all of these things and then some. Or the village of Fox Point, which has one of the highest property tax rates in the country. I’m sure we could dive into all the details and find nuances and fault from multiple parties, but it wouldn’t change this synopsis. We shouldn’t need a highly endowed private property charging admission to the public like the Schiltz Audubon next door to preserve a wild and beautiful part of nature on the lake. Shame on MKE county parks and Fox Point for letting this still most gorgeous park on the lake...
