St. Croix Savanna Scientific and Natural Area — Attraction in Baytown Township

We live in Bayport and always love to go hiking here! If you park below the hill on highway 95 you can walk up and get a great view of the whole valley!

There's also a lot of wildlife in and around the Savannah which is always wonderful to see! In the summer wildflowers cover the fields, Fall comes and the flowers are replaced with the brilliant colors of the leaves!

The are also large vines that can be swing from if your feeling brave.

Wear long pants and bring bug spray to limit your chances of getting ticks/mosquitoes once you get into the woods.

Beautiful piece of land with a couple good trails for walking. There are forests, vast fields of grasses, and an absolutely breathtaking view of the St. Croix River on top of the bluff at the end of the main trail. I would recommend watching the sunrise there. Most of the area is at a high elevation, which makes for stunning views across many other areas as well. I hope this area is open for generations to come, it is truly stunning...

Northern parking is at the end of an unmarked paved road between two homes, so worth it to map it out on street view before going. Trail/old roadway goes the length of the SNA. Would recommend long pants because of tall grass, ticks, and poison ivy. The first part of the track goes through restored prairie so there is no shade.
