Beach North Dakota DOT Welcome Center — Attraction in Beach Township

Well...if by welcoming center you mean DOT scales then I give them 4 stars! We were surprised to see "open" on the sign. After merging into the entrance we were sure the sign was on by mistake as the small building looked dark and abandoned. However as we winded around we saw one vehicle parked along the side of the scale shack and there was a light on inside. We rolled up slowly as usual at any scale and a state patrol officer exited the building and walked up to my husband's window. She informed him that she was going to do a level 1 inspection and asked us to pull forward and stop. Most drivers would be borderline angry at this point, mostly because they have a deadline to meet, or their equipment isn't up to par. We on the other hand had no anxiety, mostly because our boss has fabulous equipment and my husband takes care if it as if it were his own. Also we haul bee's and were going to load the next morning so were not rushing. Anyway, the officer proceeded with her inspection the whole time being pleasant yet professional. She did not feel the need to make sure we knew her position of authority like many officers do. She was as i said professional yet made the experience pleasant. Being the second officer, out of MANY inspections over the 20 plus years of driving, who was a normal person just doing their job. We passed with nothing marked wrong or needing attention!! It was fabulous! Thank you miss officer, you made an inspection a pleasure. We appreciate you and the job that you do. Im not sure i could be pleasant doing inspections in 24° weather! Your a trooper, punn intended 😂 thank you again. You are one of few we don't mind calling us in for inspection! Jan is an incredible asset to the ND DOT. She was friendly, informative and truly a good representative of ND. An absolute treasure. We were traveling West with 75 mph winds. Stopped to wait it out and Jan was super. Ended up visiting some Beach businesses and spent several hours in the parking lot waiting out the storm. Clean modern facility....
