⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A must-visit Northern Michigan experience that truly has it all
Petoskey Farms is hands down one of the most beautiful, welcoming, and well-rounded places we’ve ever visited in Northern Michigan. It’s so much more than just a winery — it’s a full sensory experience that blends great wine, locally crafted coffee, scenic views, peaceful lavender fields, and genuine hospitality into one unforgettable destination.
We started our visit with a wine tasting on the outdoor patio, which offers some of the most picturesque views in the area. The rolling vineyards and countryside landscape stretch as far as the eye can see. It’s peaceful, serene, and feels like a little slice of Tuscany right here in Michigan. Each wine we sampled was unique and delicious, showcasing the character of the region. Our favorites were the Trillium Red and the Dry Riesling, both beautifully balanced and perfect for sipping in the sunshine. The wine staff was incredibly helpful, offering pairing suggestions and sharing stories about the vineyard’s history and winemaking process.
After our tasting, we made our way over to the coffeehouse for a mid-morning pick-me-up. The espresso drinks were expertly made, with rich flavor and beautiful presentation. You can tell the team takes pride in every aspect of what they do. We also tried a few of the homemade pastries and baked goods — everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. It’s the kind of place where you could happily spend a slow morning reading a book, enjoying your latte, and soaking in the calm atmosphere.
Next, we wandered through the lavender fields, which were in full bloom during our visit. The colors and aroma were incredible. It’s such a peaceful space — great for photos, relaxing walks, and picking up unique handmade lavender products in the gift shop. We stocked up on lotions, candles, and a few small souvenirs, all beautifully packaged and perfect for gifts or treating yourself.
The grounds are spotless and thoughtfully designed, and you can tell that every detail — from the landscaping to the layout to the customer service — is done with care and intention. Whether you’re looking to do a wine tasting with friends, grab a quiet coffee, enjoy a romantic date, or explore something new with your family, this place has something for everyone.
Petoskey Farms is a true gem that captures the spirit of Northern Michigan — charming, authentic, and full of heart. We will absolutely be back, and we’re already recommending it to all of our friends and family. If you’re anywhere near Petoskey, do yourself a favor and make this a stop on your trip. You...
Read morePart of me doesn't want to write this as I don't want more of you out there to read this and go and fall in love with Petoskey Farms like my wife and I did! We don't want it to lose what makes it so wonderful :) But I feel that would be unfair to the family and owners and what is the best vineyard in the Petoskey area - so if you are just driving through or just never checked it out, make the time to do so!
There are 2 things that make Petoskey Farms great - a beautiful view overlooking the valley and farmlands, and most importantly the family and staff!
My wife and I are from Detroit and were in the area, and we popped in on the way in and met Natalie (one of the daughters of the founding family). We can only say that she was so sweet and pleasant, we would adopt her if we could! lol
She was so nice and informative when we asked about the wine, never in a hurry and always coming back to ask how we were doing and if we needed anything. Reading their website, we also knew she was the "coffee daughter" and we came back the next day to have a coffee and talk coffee snob stuff - and when we walked in the next day she recognized us with a smile and welcoming "so happy you came back". (Embarrassingly, we stopped in on the way out of town as well and have a final cup of coffee). She really made the trip, and although the wine and coffee were VERY good, she was the reason we came back - so thank you Natallie and we will see you again in the future!
Lastly, her father was working while we stopped in and was just as welcoming with that personal "make you feel at home" greeting, we can see why his daughter and every staff member we met was so pleasant and inviting.
If you don't plan on stopping in for some very good wine, great coffee, snacks - all with a view, you are missing out! It made our whole trip...
Read moreUpdate: 7.13.23. Thanks to our great server Kayle H. It was a lovely experience. They added a coffeeshop. So after our wine tasting and good eats we had an expresso dessert along with a cuppachino. A good way to end a very nice experience. All gluten free. Thanks guys! Changed review to a 5 star.
Thought it was going to be a great experience. Started out good. Did okay with gluten free options. Good gf pizza. Wine good... At first server was attentive. Then we were going to order another glass of wine each and another food item. But sat forever waiting for the server to return. Finally we went up to the counter and said we just wanted our check. Moved on to another winery. Disappointed... Was SO good in...
