Minnesota, but make it magic🍂✨🛶 tucked away in the Northwoods of Minnesota, Tettegouche State Park is home to some of the most incredible hiking trails, waterfalls, and beach coves in the Midwest! Here’s what I recommend:⤵️ 🥾Hike the less than two mile hike out to Shovel Point overlooking Lake Superior 🏕Hike the Superior Hiking Trail through Tettegouche, taking you to large waterfalls and up to impressive overlooks 🌊Sea Kayak the shore of Tettegouche! I would recommend this trip only for paddlers with significant sea kayaking experience including deep water self rescue in a variety of conditions— Lake Superior takes lives every year! 🏔Visit the roadside overlook of Palisade Head! For a complete guide to the best hiking trails in the Midwest, waterfall-side campsites, canoeing and kayaking routes, and hidden gem spots throughout the Great Lakes Region, check out my Midwest Adventure eBooks, linked in bio and written by sea kayaking guide & Midwest lover yours truly! 📍Land stolen from the Anishinaabe Nation #minnesota #hiking #midwest #adventure

Welllll...... we drove up, but there was no where to park, very busy. People had pulled over on the side of the very narrow road and parked, making it extremely difficult to get through. Made it potentially quite dangerous for navigating. We wound up just driving back out because it was just too busy and nowhere to SAFELY park. Very disappointed.... our grandparents used to take us there when we were kids in the 60s and 70s, back then it was a really treacherous drive up and down, no tar, just slippery clay and rocks and deep ruts and very narrow. There was rarely anyone else there unless it was blueberry season. I was really looking forward to spending a bit of time there, guess it's just gotten way too popular.

Narrow road to go up the hill but safe and fun to drive. Limited parking say about 20 cars, if busy parking can be tricky as you have no where to park but come all the way down the hill to park. Once you get off, hold on to your kids, no guard rail and absolutely sheer drop of about 300+ ft And then , you will experience breath taking views looking at majestic Superior lake and beyond your eye can see. It’s also great place for professional cliff hanging and climbing Overall worth absolute the money, time to drive up there. There is no play area or picking area as such but you can sit on the rocks and stare at water and sky all day long.

The views are spectacular the walk to the top from the parking area is long but also enjoyable it is uphill so take your time if you are not used to it. You have to walk from parking area because they dont plow the roadway up to the overlook but don't be discouraged by the locked gate it is open and the walkis worth it. While you are walking if there is fresh snow on the ground take a look at the footprints in the snow you might be surprised at what creatures prints you will see I won't take away the surprise or thrill of what we found look around for yourself. Here is a bit of what we saw.

Very cool and well worth the stop along the north shore. You can drive right up to a small parking lot and walk right to the viewpoint with ease. When we went it was packed and a lot of people parked in places that weren't parking spots making it very nerve-racking driving on a cliff. Just some very inconsiderate people. If you just wait at the entrance to the parking lot, people rotate in and out pretty easily to snag an actual parking spot. Apparently it's a common spot for people to rock climb and repel down the cliffs as well. There many here when we stopped.

Nice area to hike. We didn't explore the entire area, just a short way from the parking lot. It is a little narrow road going up to the top, be considerate when you meet another vehicle. The parking lot is pretty small, but cleared out while we were there. No defined trails off the lot, so don't bring granny in her wheelchair and expect to wheel her from the parking area. We got to witness a pair of rock climbers scaling the cliff. Bri g good walking shoes here.
