Grandview Visitor Center — Attraction in Beckley

New River Gorge National Park has so many magnificent views, every time you thought it couldn't get better it does. Grandview is a special overlook and shows the uniqueness of what it has to offer. We were surprised by the size of the facility being so small, but soon rewarded with magnificent views. This facility was clean, organized and well cared for. Grounds were well maintained, grasses cut and no trash to be seen, restrooms were clean and well maintained as well, job well done. Staff was well informed, took the time with you to answer all questions and courteous as well. I would have given a 5 star but the hiking trails are in need of maintenance. The summer of 2022 has been wet in WV so I understand that hiking trails are going to suffer. On the other hand the trail that runs to castle rock (it runs away from the main overlook) has places where the trail is ready to slide down the mountain. Also I encountered some young adults smoking marijuana. Not good for a public park where several children were at. The views were beautiful, very clean bathrooms, and a lot parking. Can't rate the visitor center anything other than no stars after traveling without stupid so we get here in time and the door is locked. 3 minutes before 5, which is the closing time on the door and the guy is setting inside with the closed sign on the door. It only takes us 30 seconds to stamp out passport book, but only if they stay the hours they say. Some visitor centers will welcome people in even minutes after closing, but this one closes early and hides behind his desk. It was September 18th and...
