Bedford Area Welcome Center — Attraction in Bedford

The camping spots were not designed by someone who rvs a lot. They are good for if you have a van, small class C or smaller trailer. We fit our 29 foot trailer, but if all three sites were occupied, it would have been really tight. There is a lot of road noise as well, with trucks engine breaking. The sewer connection is not threaded and the drain field rate isn't as fast as a trailer can dump. So when you drop tanks, do so in waves or it will overflow on you. (There was evidence of the previous person having that problem) The price was okay though at $25 for full hookups. The visitor center staff was friendly. We brought my husband's parents here on a Wednesday afternoon his father whom is a veteran of the Korean War and he enjoyed watching the short 10-minute movie Inside the Bedford Welcome Center and although it was hot day he would love to come back in the fall to go to the D-Day Memorial. as soon as you walk in here everybody is very welcoming and they also thanked my father-in-law for his service. we are Bedford residence but my in-laws live about 2 hours East in Fluvanna County and they were very impressed that Bedford even had a Welcome Center which they do not have where they live. The Bedford Welcome Center has a wealth of information for free as well as an entertaining and informative free mini-theatre. The great staff are gracious and kind and will help to answer any questions and provide additional information not already available in the racks of brochures covering all topics helpful to tourists including camping and fishing or hiking and exploring, dining and lodging, attractions and history. There's a display of local historical artifacts including fire engine and equipment. The Welcome Center is right beside the National D-Day Memorial, so it's more than worthwhile to take this exit off 460 in...
