The Pulpit Rock Conservation Area is a the 338-acre parcel of land perfect for hiking, bird watching, and close-to-home outdoor experiences. This area features the gorge and ledge named “Pulpit Rock”, wetlands, stone walls, Pulpit Brook, a number of small picturesque waterfalls; rocky outcroppings, glacial erratics such as Indian Rock, beaver lodges, the remnants of Gage’s Mill.

This is a fantastic place to hike to and can be seen alone or for a longer experience combined with a vist to Joppa Farm at the opposite end of the trail system. The whole area is full of streams, wetlands, fields, forest and fauna. But Pulpit rock is the center pieces and is worth seeing in any season. Parts of the trail were closed in the winter months due to ice. But there is still lots to see. We hiked in the winter with micro spikes on our boots and were fine.

Lots of parking can be at Pulpit Rd, New Boston Road and...

Although I could not advise hiking immediately after a rainstorm, we went out on the white and red (easy) trails a few hours after a storm ended. The paths were clear and relatively dry. Areas with low canopy cover have wooden walking areas. Minimal to zero water damage to our shoes, which was surprising! The trails are well labeled with strips of colored metal pointing the way. We only had to backtrack once due to a fallen marked tree. We were able to course correct quickly thanks to a copy of the trail map. The white and red trails have waterfalls, lots of birds, wooden bridges, and a beautiful marsh area. The only downside is the limited parking options. The lot is small and fills up easily. Make sure to...

My boyfriend and I took our dog there today for what was supposed to be a nice walk. It wasn't too difficult of a walk, but challenging enough to make you feel like you were exercising, which was good. The main problem we had was, the maps were not very helpful. None of the trails looked like they looped back around to the main parking lot. We chose to follow the white trail, which we found out the hard way goes on for quite a distance. Much farther than we had planned on. my main complaint is that there are no mile markers and the maps are not super helpful. The scenery was nice though. Nothing like feeling you're lost in the woods with no clear instructions on how to get back...

Awesome hiking area. I go here a lot. It does become more difficult to spot the trail markers around this time of year, May/June probably until mid fall because of the leaves. Just don't wander too far and always keep a check behind you and make sure you can still see the way back. The red trail in particular is hard to spot now. Pic included is of a small teepee like structure someone has built along the way. There is also a small rock structure someone has started building. Interesting construction. I think I would camp here if homeless lol!
