Updating my review, due to owners response. The group that was lagging behind was also 15 minutes for the tour. I don’t feel I was at the farm too long, but I do feel a group who arrived late and didn’t keep up with us should not have dictated the pace for everyone else. They weren’t lagging behind because they couldn’t keep up, they were lagging behind because they were on their phones and chit chatting amongst themselves. Our guide could have done a better job of keeping them in line. The farm store was not a problem.

Regarding the breeding, that information wasn’t shared by our guide, so thank you for explaining. Well kept farm with beautiful Mountain View’s. We got lucky and saw an absolutely precious 1 day old alpaca. His name is Honor (because it’s Memorial Day weekend) and his Mom is doing a great job of taking care of him.

The goats were friendly and so was the donkey. All of the animals have plenty of space to be comfortable. The only smaller area is where the two pot belly pigs stay. I think Laverne and Shirley could use more space, but they seemed content.

The ride to the farm is VERY windy, so if you are prone to motion sickness take dramamine before you go!

Part of our group constantly lagged behind and rather than our guide telling them to keep up, she had the rest of us stand around and wait for them. Our tour took 2 hours, instead of 1 because of this.

Almost all of the female alpacas and goats are pregnant, as well as the female Great Pyrenees dog. Our guide said they will sell the Great Pyrenees puppies. Not sure what the plan is for the alpacas and goats. Why so...

My kids (6 and 3) and I had a truly great time on this farm tour! We've spent a lot of time at petting zoo type places, and the kids didn't seem terribly excited before we got there. However, the tour ended up being a ton of fun, and it ended up being a highlight of our trip to Boone!

The farm is lovely. In July there were flowers EVERYWHERE! We got to see a variety of animals and learn a lot. Our tour guide was a local teen who works on the farm taking care of the animals as well as giving tours, so she could answer all our questions about the animals, tell us about their personalities, and tell us funny stories about them.

My favorite thing was that she encouraged the kids to be wild kids while still respecting the animals. She let them climb up on a sturdy gate to get a better look, let them run between tour stops, gave them a bunch of chances to feed the animals and plenty of time, so my nervous 3 year old had time to warm up to the idea. The kids could be loud and have fun. It was a welcome and much needed break for them, since our vacation otherwise had them in a lot of situations where they had to behave. Lots of restaurants and hikes with sections where being wild might mean falling off a mountain. To be clear, though, the guide did ensure that the kids were respectful to the animals. It was a perfect balance and a lot of fun.

My only regret is not having thought in advance about what type of yarn I might want to buy at the shop at the end! We did buy bratwursts from another local farm in their shop that...

We enjoyed our visit to Apple hill farm but left feeling that it was a tad expensive for what it was.

First, we never saw that tour times were only 11 and 2 so were lucky to arrive just before 11. Unlike several places, 12 is an adult not a child. They do offer a military discount, but even though my daughter pointed it out to the girl signing us in, we were still charged full price. So if that's you, ask for it 😊

The farm that you tour is pretty compact and you could probably just walk around the orchard and see everything. Our guide was generally friendly, but only shared very basic information and only elaborated when asked specific questions.

The highlight for my daughter was the chance to feed the goats. The views are pretty and they'll send you home with mint plants if you're interested.

You'll be directed out through the gift store where yarn from the farm is sold. The other products are not produced locally. The markup on the socks was only a couple of dollars over Amazon so pretty reasonable if you want to shop there.

Overall, it's a pleasant hour and a half. At 50 dollars for a family of four, it felt like an...
