Literally in the middle of nowhere. I thought we were lost. There’s no office, check in building ect. just a parking lot. I think there’s a bathroom building but I didn’t go inside. GPS took me to a location in the middle of the road but we kept driving and found the parking lot. It has been very dry here and the creek beds are dried up. We started on the outside loop and did the cross through trail. This area was hit hard by severe storms and the white path has many fallen trees in it so we had to go around. I’d definitely come back here after a good rain and when things are green and blooming. Would be nice if they could do a clean up of the fallen trees. There are also several trees marked as dangerous.

Early October, no ticks just a few mosquitoes. We saw a large black racer and an armadillo along the trail! There are a lot of newly downed trees so we had to navigate around those. The water was all dried up so no waterfalls but it was very pretty with all the leaves changing color. Not an easy hike but I really enjoyed the challenge. I recommend finding a nice stick and using it like a wand to keep free from walking into spider webs.

I thoroughly enjoyed the hiking available at Big Sugar Creek! Took the eastern half of the loop and the shortcut back along the ridge-top on a clear day in March, and the scenery was lovely. Woods with thin undergrowth that has been managed by fire, rolling hills, interesting rock outcroppings, wildflowers, and utter quiet except for the forest sounds and the wind. Very nice and worth a visit!

This is a quiet (not many people), small, scenic park with one loop trail (with a shortcut) and bathrooms (pit toilet, hand sanitizer, no sink) at the trailhead. Our group went this September and the trail wasn't maintained well. There was a lot of tall grass on several parts, other parts were eroded and right next to a drop off, and there were times it was hard to tell where the trail proceeded because of it being overgrown. Because of having to walk through tall grass and having to brush up against so many plants growing over the trail, all of our party of 8 got covered in seed ticks and were unbelievably bitten up by them. I've hiked in this area all of my life and have never experienced anything like this. Trail marks could be improved. We took a wrong turn at the shortcut. We ended up hiking for 4+ hours. When we got out, we found out another couple had also gotten lost (a couple we had chatted with before we started off) and emergency vehicles had shown up to find them as we were leaving. FYI, there was no water in any of the creek beds along the trail this time of year. Pretty trail, but we won't be back because it was poorly maintained. There are so many trails in our area where we don't get...

DO NOT GO HERE. I took my two toddlers here today in hopes of a kid friendly easy hiking trail. If it was maintained properly I’d say it would be. However, the “trail” is very skinny and everywhere is extremely overgrown and INFESTED with seed ticks. We had not hundreds, but thousands on us. There is not sinks in the bathrooms, so there was absolutely nothing we could do but use our bottled water and baby wipes to try to get as many off as we could so we could drive 30 minutes home and shower. My car is now infested with ticks. Shoes were thrown away because washing them wouldn’t get the ticks off. There were that many. I’ve had seed ticks, but nothing like this. I want people to know so this doesn’t happen to others. I am so glad I did not bring my Australian shepherd like I planned. Absolutely awful that something isn’t being done… Don’t bring...
