Nice short trail, path is paved at the beginning but a dirt path after. Might be stroller friendly if you have one with big wheels, but I didn't try a stroller. Path starts along the river then goes into the woods and circles back to the river. No bikes or motorized vehicles. From AllTrails/Meck County site: Enjoy this 1.4-mile loop trail near Charlotte, North Carolina. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 31 min to complete. This trail is great for birding, fishing, and hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The name Iswa is a Catawba word meaning "people of the river". Mecklenburg County, particularly along the Catawba River, was historically part of the Catawba nation.

I'm giving three for now. It's new and I'm guessing it is not complete. Good: It's quiet with lovely waterfront views. The freshly created trail is shaded. Not Good: The location does not have a map posted and the trail is not marked. Most of the trail is in a dense wooded area. Most of the trail is unpaved clay. It will be super muddy after rains. There's no restroom on site. Other: It has a small parking lot. My watch said the trail from the parking entrance is 1.90 miles and three flights. It's a hilly woody trail.

Awesome enjoyable trail. Plants here are very interesting and just gives the place a cool feeling. One thing is that the spots that access the river along the trail had trash scattered around. Not sure what the solution is for this but it’s disheartening.

My dog and I went just got back from a hike at ISWA Nature Preserve and never will go again. The shoreline is littered with trash and looks awful. It really saddens me that people are so disrespectful of nature. It is a disgrace, the county needs to clean it up or organize a group. Put trash bins up, something to discourage fishermen, boaters, squatters or whoever is camping out there and leaving all their trash. I am very discouraged that Gaston county is not on top of this. We pay High taxes to Live and enjoy nature in a clean, safe environment. Please clean up your...

Disappointing. No purpose. The entire time we heard traffic, 18-wheelers, and horns as they drove over the bridge - and we were there at 6am on a Sunday morning. The "trail" was not maintained beyond 20 feet, and completely stopped after 50 feet. There is no view. Nothing has been planted. We were there to fish. Stayed 4 hours and none of us had a nibble. We typically go to Uwharrie. This just seems like a parking lot next to the bridge. It seems like the city couldn't get a business to buy the land so they converted it to a 'park' to avoid taxes. Do...
