Rock Meadow is popular for hikers and mountain bikers. It offers a good set of trails that are convenient to metro Boston, and is the beginning of the little-known Western Greenway, with miles of trails. It's at least 12 miles if you just ride the whole Greenway end-to-end, and if you take side paths, many times more than that. You could hike or bike only in Rock Meadow many times and cover different trails each time, The Western Greenway greatly expands that territory. It's a beautiful arrangement of open fields, woods, and wetlands that host a variety of wild animals. There are community gardens and operating bee hives.
