I have been going to Johnson Farms to buy plants only since the first year and have recommended many, many people go there over the years as it was always a bargain early in the season and excellent quality. However, this year, 2016, I was very disappointed in the quality and amount of annuals and perennials you had available. I even came back 1 month after opening day in hopes you would have more variety but that really wasn't the case and I had to split the money I usually spend at just Johnson Farms, at other retailers due to lack of variety and poor quality.
You've also taken away the flat sale and gone to a bandanna sale of items I never purchase, like small succulents or dirt etc... so now your lifelong customers are the ones who are not benefiting from being loyal customers. This doesn't endure us to keep driving so far.
You should really reconsider bringing in more variety of plants and do at least one flat sale for us high volume gardeners who spend $300-500 on annuals a year.
I don't want to buy elsewhere but have had no choice but to spend even more which I would rather spend at Johnson Farms but can't due to the lack of variety and quality this year was poor and health of plants was not up to par as every other year in the past.
I'm looking forward to opening of mum season and will spend several hundred dollars as I do yearly on these, but be nicer to us when we are selecting the mums. Last year's experience was not good with the selection process. I mean would you buy a plant without checking the inside quality and wetness/dryness or size of leaves??? My guess is no, because you are a gardener and know quality as I do. So let us look and touch without making us feel like we are hurting the plants or something.
I wish I could give you 5 stars as I would of every year previously, but not in 2016. I'm hopeful you will correct this for 2017 and will be happy to change the ranking with improvements and hope to spend all of my garden funds with you instead of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy dad heard about this place from a co-worker and wanted to take my almost 4 year old son because he had heard such great things.
When we got there we were shocked and kind of irritated by the entrance fee for each person. At first my dad and I refused to go in thinking that the price was insane (I had no idea what attractions were available at that point) but of course my son saw the little train and just HAD to ride so my mom took him back there. Within a few minutes she was calling us to say there was A LOT to check out and that we could easily spend hours there plus there was a discount on pumpkins with the price of admission when you pick your own pumpkin from the field.
Once we walked through the entrance and saw EVERYTHING inside we were blown away. There is SO much for children to do and every staff member we came in contact with was great.
-There was a lady and a man out by the mums and both were so friendly and helpful!
-We rode the tractor pulling a trailer and that guy stopped and chatted with my dad because he was wearing a United States Navy shirt and was so friendly to my son.
-We grabbed some pumpkins on the way out of course and the girl at the register was so sweet as well.
This was an absolutely great experience, my son loved it and I saw something about a season pass and I'm even interested to look into that. It's a neat place that's close by and easy to take kids to. I will definitely be coming back and I just LOVE the unique pumpkins that I got (2 whites, a very light green, and a funky shaped and very light colored orange and green).
Thank you Johnson family for such a fun, unique and pleasant day...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow!!! I can not express how amazing this place is!! The amount of things for kids to do goes far and beyond! They have a huge food court when you get into the farm, live music, fresh donuts, can't get any better. They have a huge barn that has 4 BIG inflatable obstacle courses and other inflatables such as throwing axes, soccer, football and many more. Hay rides, train ride, a huge playground maze, Animals, pig races. The amount of things to do here is incredible for a kid! Picking apples and seeing the different kinds was really neat. My kiddo got to try some new apples for the first time and seeing what she likes is a nice memory to cherish. I'm really impressed. The Mums garden is spectacular, we came at 9am and the colors radiating off the morning sunshine was blissful. The pricing on them are great, they are beautiful and well taken take of. We walked out with 3! We plan to come back in October to check out the late bloomer Mums, and the farm of course!
Bunch of nicely decorated photo areas to take great family pictures.
Pumpkins are beautiful and a huge variety of different colors
There is no bad smell at this farm like there is at some cider mills.
