Where to start..? We love this park because:

My sister got married here years ago in October. It was beautiful. My brother was the photographer and the pictures were perfect.

Also, it’s a great place for hiking and enjoying nature. Today we started on the Shevlin Loop trail: The trailhead is a picnic area with toilets, water and trash bins just a short drive from the park entrance. The 1st mile is uphill and mostly unshaded so go early. After that you’ll walk along the shaded trail above the creek. Trails are well marked. Just before you hit your 2nd mile you reach a map that indicates you’re about to start looping back along the water. Enjoy some downhill shade and a picnic bench when you cross the bridge to the other side of the creek. When you reach the junction of all the trails you’ll see that the map indicates they all head back to the meadow/starting point. So we took the easy, cooler Tumalo Creek Trail. Don’t miss the history and bathroom opportunity at Fremont Meadow. Tumalo Creek Trail has several Creekside picnic opportunities and is a lovely walk for...

Overview: Shevlin Park is a haven located less than three miles from Bend and a perfect location for hiking, jogging, fishing, cross country skiing and picnicking. There is an extensive trail and pathway system providing for both summer and winter uses. The ODFW fishing limit for Shevlin Pond is 2 trout per day, 8-inch minimum length. Fishing is restricted to juvenile anglers 17 years and younger.

The trail around the canyon rim is perfect for mountain biking, or a nature walk. You will travel through aspen and ponderosa pine. Views of Tumalo Creek in the canyon below.

Take Newport Avenue heading west, it will turn into Shevlin Park Road after the roundabout at Mt. Washington Drive. Follow Shevlin Park Road for 1.5 miles.

Turn left into the parking lot or the access road. If the seasonal gate is open go to the far Freemont Meadows parking area. You can access each of the trails from here. If the gate is closed walk down to the covered bridge and back to the parking lot for...

Whenever I want to skip town - I find myself going to Shelving Park. You can be walking, biking, running, it all just fits. The sound of water from time to time as you walk through the park, keeps me smiling. Not to mention the birds and their chirping - delightful music escorting you as you go.

The place has mini spots for small family gatherings, sitting and dinning.

Moreover, I would like to mention an incident that happened to me and a friend of mine - while we walked/ran, my friend stumbled and couldn't continue walking to our car. I called Bend Parks & Rec, and within 10 minutes Shevlin's Park Ranger came - she was amazing. Opened the gate for me to get my car in, so I could drive my friend, all with such encouragement and making sure that all is good. Couldn't...

Shevlin Park offers a lot of choices for trails to walk along. Located in Northwest Bend, Oregon it is the perfect place to visit on a hot day with your puppy 🐶. There are a lot of trees 🌲 offering shade and many places to dip your toes in the stream. 💦 #visitbend #visitcentraloregon #shevlinpark #shevlinparktrail #bendoregon #bendoregonlife #traveloregon #pnw #travelinspo #travelideas #dogfriendly #bringfido #summervacay #hike #hikewithdogs #vacay #rentliveplay

Once again, the good fortune of living in a place with such easy access to public parks and trails. This was the morning of Thanksgiving on one of the loops. Many others lead of in other directions, each equally stimulating. Beautiful in all seasons! Dogs allowed on leash, altho some dog owners choose to disrespect this curtesy, but fortunately they are few. One can do a short hike with a stroller, or go for the miles. The only disappointment was not having access to the bathroom at the far end of the loop. And with some snow, skiing can be sublime!
