$7 fee to enter the park just to get to this hike. Nice trail head with plenty of parking and nice restrooms. We took the CW route opting for the steeper up first to save our knees from the steeper longer down if going CCW. Wear boots, the tread is strewn with loose rocks. Once you crest the saddle at about 1.8 miles you drop down into a nice fairly lush canyon. Had to compete with some free-range cows for the trail but no problem getting them to move. A solid 1K' gain, about 4.2 miles with an option to extend up canyon if you choose which we did for a short distance making our loop 4.55 miles. I would like to have had time to explore up canyon more.
