I had a much better time here than I had expected. I went there with my mom and brother and his two kids, and this place is super cool. TRAILS They have some trails that you can walk along, and they have this really long Boardwalk that's basically like a hundred feet up in the air that is pretty cool to look out from. BUTTERFLIES They have this giant butterfly house area where you can walk in there and there are like 20 kinds of butterflies just everywhere, and relaxing music. I think it might be three or five dollars per person to go into the butterfly area but other than that I'm pretty sure everything is free. REPTILES AND OWLS Indoors they have a ton of reptile exhibits like turtles and snakes and they took the snake out to let my brother's kid pet it. They also had owls in there and it was really awesome because they were really tiny owls and it was cool. MERCH They also have some pretty cool merchandise like water bottles and shirts and different natural pesticide soap and stuff like that.

I definitely recommend visiting the Sarett Nature Center. In the first five minutes we were there, we met a beautiful rescue owl and its handler in the parking lot, which absolutely made my day. Inside, there are many rescue animals, including turtles, lizards, snakes and owls. You can tell the staff put a lot of love and care into them. This part of the nature center would be great for children (or anyone, really) who like to learn about animals. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. There are also large windows where you can sit and watch bird feeders. Even though we visited in November, we still saw a large variety of birds. And if you visit during a migration period, you will surely see even more. Finally, there were more than 5 miles of well maintained trails for hiking and walking. One of the highlights was a tall viewing platform that takes visitors high above the grounds. Overall, a wonderful place we can't wait to come back to.

Employees were corgial, informative and present. The buildings were well maintained, with live animal exhibits from a range of species. Trails are beautiful. Nothing is more than a mile, but the design of the trails allows one to feel enveloped by nature without being more than 15 mins from the center. Most if the trails intersect allowing longer hikes in a couple different terrains. Great for all ages, though some of the trails may present some difficulties for those with difficulty in mobility. Many of the trails are on boardwalks. All in all a well rounded experience with knowledge, tranquility, and life.

Anytime we're visiting the St. Joseph area my husband and I head to Sarett Nature Center. What an amazing resource for the community! It's a great place to take our 4 year old granddaugter who likes seeing the animals in the center and playing with the nature related toys and books. We enjoy walking on the nature trails, viewing the multitude of gorgeous birds at the feeders, and shopping in the gift shop! Just completed this puzzle that I purchased there last week. It reminds me that their butterfly house will soon open. Can't wait to visit next!

Sarett Nature Center offers numerous trails to hike. The nature center itself also has several nice introductory exhibits. The exhibits feature local wildlife found on the center property sensibly displayed. The trails feature walks on the lower portion of the property by the water. The upland trail goes through both the forest along with grassy areas and wildflower prairie areas. The boardwalk into the forest canopy offers a great experience. Some of the areas can get a little buggy, so be prepared.
