My wife and I ordered two bottles of the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon via Col Solare website. The bottles shipped on time and arrived when they were supposed to. The problem came when we went to open the first bottle and realize that the bottle was corked. Mind you this is a $75 bottle of wine. I reached out to Col Solare via email and did not hear anything for the next 10 days. I reached out to them again, this time via phone. The gentleman I spoke with inform me that the winery does not handle online orders that it is a separate entity. He told me that he would put me in touch with the entity when able. A few days later I received an email from the concierge who asked me about the issues we were having. The concierge in for me that they would ship us a new bottle the following Tuesday and to ensure that someone was home for Thursday delivery. Low and behold Thursday rolls aroundm,w stays home to ensure that we can receive the delivery, and we received nothing. Not an email, not a replacement bottle, not a single thing. We have ordered or bought many bottles from Col Solare but this last order will be the last. If you value customer service you will not buy from this winery.
Edit: we finally got a hold of a customer service rep and they made things right by shipping us two new bottles. It took multiple phone calls and multiple emails but they corrected the situation which is why I have adjusted the...
Read moreOur visit to Col Solare was nothing short of world class in every aspect of the word. From the time we hit the parking lot until the time we checked out we were treated like family, nothing short of VIP service. Although our tasting was advertised to be just 3 wines we were treated to just about everything on the menu. Each wine was presented to us in nice stemware and not once did we reuse a glass. Monica was officially our server but we were also spoiled by Ian and Eddie. All three were very knowledgeable of the wine we were being served as well as the wines of Eastern Washington. We enjoyed every wine we tasted but did have a couple standouts. The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2015 Malbec and the 2016 Syrah were all standouts. Wines are priced at the luxury level but seem reasonable in comparison to comparable wines in Napa. Our visit to Col Solare was indeed memorable. I only wish we would have saved it for last because now all other wineries in Eastern Washington will be judged based on Col Solare. Is that fair? Don't care, I am on vacation and therefore I make the rules... For this visit I give Col Solare 5 stars. Woohoo! As...
Read moreShort story, definitely make the trip if you haven't been. Beautiful location on Red Mountain, with a facility reminiscent of Napa and pretty good wine. See below for the disclaimer.
Beautiful location and facility, no doubt. We think however, the wines are lacking. St Michelle and Antinori certainly are making some great Cabs and Bordeaux but they need a LOT of time (i.e. 5-10+ years) in the cellar to be at their peak and, quite frankly, to be enjoyable. IMO, wines are overpriced given the quality; if you are looking for the best WA can offer, you can easily find bottles of Leonetti, Quilceda Creek, and other WA wines at the same price with much better quality at any good wine shop. That being said, there are some great vintages here and we regularly buy a bottle when we visit. But take our word with a grain of salt; give them a try before making...
