The grounds are beautiful but the owner seems to lack common courtesy and family values. I was there with family, friends, and their respective children for a public event that was being held at Hedges. We were seated at a table having a wonderful time conversing and catching up. The kids were playing in the grass and doing what kids do when they are bored around adults that are just sitting around chatting. They were picking up leaves and playing with them, exploring in the bushes, trees, and coloring. Every leaf that they picked up for their leaf pile they put into the trash when they were done. They weren't being loud, disruptive, or having any negative effect on anyone else on the premises. After an hour and a half and a flight of wine the owner whispered to our server that us and the kids needed to move to a different table in a secluded area because of. The reason stated was for "disruptive" children and to make room for more guests as it was a busy day. That said, there were multiple empty tables around us in the same area so there was no logical reason for us to be asked to move. We decided to leave instead of moving as we weren't going to stay at a place that we didn't feel welcome. From this situation hedges got free landscaping from children and we got asked to relocate for being an inconvenience? I will not be recommending this establishment to anyone is the future and will advocate for everyone to try any winery in the three rivers area over this one. That being said, the general wait staff was fantastic and kind, just the owner...
Read more4.5 Overall. We will visit Hedges again. The three of us stopped for a wine tasting at Hedges during a drive from Seattle area to Walla Walla, on a warm and sunny July day. AMBIANCE: 4.5 We chose to sit outside under the umbrella trees next to the fountain. The view was lovely, the trees provided cool shade, and the sound of the fountain was pleasing -- though the low hum of the fountain's pump was at first a slight distraction it quickly faded from our consciousness. WINE: 4.5. We chose and enjoyed the Estate White Wine Flight and bought one bottle; for our next stop I am looking forward to having the Red Flight. SERVICE: 4.0. Many wineries employ college students for summer wine tastings, and the gentleman who served us was no exception. However, he was better than most as he had just graduated with a degree in viticulture and thus was knowledgeable about the wines and able to answer...
Read moreWe came with kids and felt absolutely unwelcome from the moment we arrived. We could not wait to leave! "No outside food" (ok, no problem), no running around, no sitting there or there, no moving tables" and so on and on. The staff was like a police all over us during a short 30 min stay and rude. Over the past 5 years of wine tasting in Eastern Washington, this was the first experience like that EVER! My husband and I and our 2 kids have been to this place before, in 2019, so we wanted to take our friends there this time. We felt so embarrassed for the experience we've had! Afterwards, stopped at Fidélitas down the road and had a wonderful time, with staff making us feel welcome, telling us about their winery and wine making process while we were tasting. We ended up buying a few bottles there and thankfully ended our day on...
