Very nice beach at an affordable parking rate. It's $5 for 3 hours or $10 for the day, no matter where you're from. The water is only about waist deep out to the sand bar, and the sand bar is about knee deep, if that. There are bathrooms and outdoor showers, but they smell very strongly of urine. I heard the men's had a bowel movement in the urinal. There's also a concession stand even though we didn't visit it (we would've the first time, but it wasn't opened). There is playground equipment, but it's in the direct sun, so I'm not sure if it gets hot. It was 85° so our kids just wanted to be in the sand and water. No dogs or golf carts are allowed according to the guard shack. You pay at a kiosk on the side of the bathroom facing the beach. Many people do not even park in that area, so I'm not sure how many even pay and if they patrol it. There's also a huge pavilion, but I'm not sure if they do concerts there or what. There are a bunch of walking trails it looked like & this beach is basically in a golf course. Besides the smell in the bathroom, the only other negative part was that many boats came up and anchored right in the sand bar, taking up a big chunk of space. Not only w/their boats but throwing their anchoring ropes far out on either side. It seems very rude seeing as we had to pay to park and use this beach, and they came right in (where people were swimming) and took claim to several sections. We would...
Read moreYes, Jean Clock Park is a park, but it's a beach. I don't know if there are toys for kids to play on, but there are sidewalks to ride bikes, a lovely beach and it's also a beautiful venue for entertaining, weddings, inspirational meetings, picnics, reunions and anything else you can dream of. There is no seating so you have to bring your own chairs or beach blankets. The venue is a huge concrete pavilion with a concreted area for chairs so it's great for concerts as well. The beach is absolutely beautiful as it is on lake Michigan and abuts the beautiful Harbor Shores golf club and is included in the walking trails. There is a large parking lot with handicapped parking spaces and because of the sidewalks, would be a beautiful place to bring someone who is confined to a wheelchair for an outing. It doesn't cost anything to park now because the season is over, but in the summer between Memorial Day and Labor Day there is someone at the gate to collect a parking fee. I am not sure of the fee. Thank you Benton Harbor for such a...
