I so love Land Between the Lakes that not only did I bring my children when they were kids, I finally got my husband out of the work box and into the great out of doors here on a belated anniversary vacation! The Bison and Elk prairie was new to me, which was neat, and we did finally see bison! We skipped the planetarium, however, to make up for it we returned to the old homestead later that night to listen to old fashioned oral story-telling under the night sky. What an awesome treat! There is camping and other recreation available, or you can drive from one end to the other as we did and stop along the road and check out gorgeous scenery. Read more5 mile bike /hike trail was awesome! I'm not in great shape and I felt better the next day than I did when started the hike. You come out to the road at about 2.5 of the trail. You can take the road maybe .5mi back to welcome center if you want to do the whole thing. But the picturesque views of the lake were so cool especially at sunset. We took flashlights and finished in the dark which was also pretty. Pack a small pack of granola bars and couple bottle waters. We averaged speed of about 2.5mph plus stopping. Took about 3:30 hours. You can also buy a discount pass for the different attractions at LBL, Woodland Nature center, Golden Pond Planetarium, and 1850 Homeplace. These can also be purchased at the individual attractions. Vending machines are available also. There is also a stamp available similar to the National Park passport stamp, while not part of the system, just ask the staff as it is behind...
