Came here for a beach day in the middle of the week. There are 2 buildings, one focuses on the history of the park while the other one focuses on the nature in the park. Both were staffed by 2 very kind and extremely knowledgeable volunteers. They jump at the chance to introduce you to things and tell you stories about the park. Their passion really made the experience more than precious. The buildings may look small, but they pack a lot of materials to look through than expected. The nature building is especially great for kids since small animals inside for them to see as well as the whale jaw bones outside the building. My party consisted of 3 adults and kids, and we really enjoyed our time here! Kudos to the volunteers!!

Awesome trails, huge beach with sugar sand. You can see the Barnegat lighthouse and LBI. The fishing is so fun. You can drive a 4×4 on the beach with permit. Kyaking and canoeing has a special area to go out on the water. There is even a place for swimming and a really nice beach house for bathrooms. I've been coming to the Island for years spending the summers and this was the first time exploring the park. Truly amazing.

I went to the Jersey store to see how high the waves are from the hurricane offshore. I took a hike to the shore and I got very exhausted Tim who works there along with 2 other Rangers rangers. Help me get inside to where it was cool so I could get catch my breath. They were very generous and get me something to drink and they had me rest there. Their outpouring in help was very much appreciated.

PRO: You'll learn about the history and the flora and fauna of the area. Very nice volunteers. Restroom is decent. A short trail to the beach is also there (it says 2miles but its less than that). Very relaxing and informative. CON: Small and some of the artifacts are deteriorating--probably need more funding/support. Having a giftshop might help with that. RECOMMENDATION: Nice place to take a break, relax, learn & interact w/ the locals...
