Best dog park ever!!!
There are two "traditional" chain link fenced dog areas, one for small dogs, one for large. The pens are supplied with emergency first aid kits, and plenty of chairs for the humans. Lots of shady spaces and big dogs can really stretch out and RUN. There is also a picnic table right outside the dog gates so you can enjoy your lunch without having to fight off a pack of beggars!
On the lake side the traditional parks there are three paddocks set up with beach access including a swim float barrier to keep the dogs for swimming across the lake to freedom 😄 These paddocks are built with post and rail construction (think horse fence) with welded wire tacked on to block dogs. These areas are not dog proof. Due to age, weather, digging dogs, etc... a mildly determined dog can move between the three paddocks or escape completely. My good dog didn't challenge the fence at all, but the bad seed was out hunting for birds in the heavy cover between the beach area and the traditional parks.
I plan to make this a regular park of my doggy days...
Read moreFirst time there and loved the dog park! My two small dogs, although they don't swim, loved to walk around the portion that was fenced in on the lake. There is swim buoy out in the water and lots of community tennis balls in the swim area for sharing to play with and some trees for shade.
There are also two fenced in areas not on the water, one for small dogs, the other for big dogs. The big dog portion seemed HUGE, but we didn't go in there, so I don't know what it had to provide.
My only complaint was that there is a dog water fountain in the small dog area, in the back portion of the area, but it wasn't working, so on a hot day, my dogs didn't have any water, and as stated already, they don't like to swim, so they didn't go out in the water or drink from lake water. I don't typically bring my own, as I expect the fountains to work. Next time, I'll bring my own just in case.
It is a nice park, especially with the fenced in part on the water with lots of friendly dogs and dog owners at that we'll definitely be...
Read moreI 98% love this beach. It is the only place that I feel that my dog is able to swim and I feel comfortable letting him loose to go in the water without running off (unlike the Hilliard beach- still a great beach, but my dog needs boundaries). That said- I am not pleased with the boundaries on the outer water area. My dog saw a duck and swam over the barrier, which is just a swim noodle with some rope through it, and swam out about 50 yards after the duck. I of course swam after him but we both almost drowned! There is no safety equipment at the beach such as life preservers or kits like they have at the dry dog park on the opposite side of the area. I know that my dog going out past the barrier is not their fault, but it is extremely dangerous nonetheless. I have had other dog owners tell me that they have had the same experience. I will not be going back without a life jacket for my pooch. I still gave 3 stars, but I feel that there needs to be a better barrier out towards the water to keep our...
