Tbh, for being supposedly the most haunted places in nj, it was pretty dissappointing. There are way better spots where you can have thrills in nj. Not really that cool of a tree, some carvings and drawings from other people on it. Something intresting i found though was behind the tree in the forest type area. I saw someone throwing something over a tree, but when i went over there no one was there. So that part was a little sketchy. But the tree itself isn't too bad, would reccommened if your in a 40 minute radius of the tree, anywhere longer, its not worth your time.

It’s sad to see that this stately oak has been so damaged by people visiting it. The lower trunk has been chopped at and spray painted. There must be a fair about of rot since hen of the woods mushrooms are emerging from its base. I can’t speak to what of its history is true versus legend and myth, but please if you come to visit, don’t vandalize the tree, what harm did it do to you.

Definitely an ominous tree. It's hard to spot off the road, but when you drive nearby it slowly rolls into view and you can just see why the tree is so evil. Every piece of foliage looks like it was placed there, not grown. And the pathway to the tree is just so pronounced you kinda wonder if you're walking into hell itself. But it was definitely interesting to view.

16 years ago, my (now) husband, best friend, brother and myself took a Weird New Jersey trip and visited several in a weekend.. The devil's tree was our first stop.. The boys climbed on the tree, peed on the tree etc.. when they tried to use an axe on the tree the first gash closed itself up.. we even got it on camera but this was forever ago and my friend has since lost the video but we all remember it well.. according to the legend of the tree you should not take any pieces of it with you.. so of course the boys cut chunks out and put em in our hatch.. there's a legend about a black Ford chasing you as you leave..well, as soon as we got on the main road we were pulled over (black Ford??) And my husband got his first ticket.. since then we've had nothing but horrible luck with cars .. constantly breaking down.. accidents that make no sense.. accidents from which we are lucky to be alive.. all kinds of major repairs needed.. you get the idea.. between us we have had 14 cars in our 18yrs together.. my husband had nothing but problems with his license as well.. we are getting ready to finally move out of NJ and to South Carolina.. I'm seriously considering going back to the tree to atone somehow which hopefully will leave all of these car issues behind us as we start fresh in a new state.. ya never know.. could all be related to the tree Edited to say: When we were there, 16+ years ago, the tree was pretty much the only thing in the field.. there was overgrowth behind it and trees a ways back.. and it did look like the photos that are regularly used of it.. there were all kinds of things hanging on it and the ground around the tree and the tree itself were warmer than the area around it (we...

I've been to the devils tree twice to see if snow actually does not in fact accumulate on the tree. Both times I've visited I have not conclusively been able to tell if there was snow on the branches. Its hard a spot to stay pulled over in. Your not supposed to go up to the tree and the closest I've gotten is the little chain gateway that tells you to go no further. Ill tell you this there's something off about the tree. You'd probably never know it driving by it but if you stay there for awhile it's an youll see It's an erie location and there's a unnatural quietness about the tree. I dont think the birds go near it but I could be wrong. After all both my visits were in the winter. Happy...

Me and my friends visited this attraction one night after reading Weird New Jersey and were very disappointed. First of all, it looks absolutely nothing like the pictures online or the descriptions. When we showed up we where picturing an empty field with a tree in it. I looks so different that we originally thought we had the wrong address and drove past it. Finning after realizing that we did in fact have the right address we walked over to it. Here is what we saw, a large overgrown field filled with weeds and a tree with some marks on it. That was literally it, there was no weird noises or anything else out out of...
