The Environmental Education Center is an awesome place. I would strongly recommend that you visit their FB page Environmental Education Center at Lord Stirling Park to get an overview of the vast interesting things they offer. From the informative museum (not too big, but the perfect size to keep the interest of children before hiking!) with interesting little displays, to really cool programs. There's literally something for everyone! I actually found this place by accident, read below...
What a treasure, what a FIND!! While looking for a place to host my daughter's baby shower, I stumbled across this place. The shower was yesterday... I'm still too pooped to go through the 200+ photos & make a nice post, but needless to say it was perfect. The staff at the EEC couldn't have been more accommodating, the room was HUGE, there was no rush to get us out and the environment was outstanding! SO many of our guests remarked that they were so impressed by the place and were planning on returning with their husband and children. This is one of NJ's best kept secrets!
Now that I know that it's there, I'll be going back to explore both the inside museum and outside trails, etc. This is a fabulous family friendly day trip that's practically free! Take a peek, you won't be...
Read moreMyself and my boys (9 and 3 years old) visited this last weekend for the maple sugaring demonstration and had a great time. We stopped in the main building to buy tickets and had enough time for the kids to explore the discovery areas. The interactive displays were interesting for both the kids and adults in our group. Clean bathrooms which we used before and after our hike. We had to hike out to the sugar shack and due to the weather the trails were very muddy in sections and icy in others (which we expected). Despite those challenges I found the trails to be well maintained and at the beginning of the trail there were some fun activities for the kids to enjoy like knot tying. The maple syrup demonstration was super cool and the naturalist was very knowledgeable explaining everything in an interesting way that was easy for...
Read moreVery cool place for a peaceful walk in nature. Was here after the building was already closed but you can still enjoy the grounds until dusk. There is dirt trails in the woods but also a wooded boardwalk around part of the lake area. They have beautiful flowers and herbs in a garden there along with some fun planter items such as a bed(flower bed, get it? Haha) and kayaks. There was geese, catbirds, blue birds and even spotted a goldfinch. There is overall close to 6 miles of trails and I'll def go back earlier to check out more of the palce. Every fork in the road has a map as to where you are so you cannot easily get lost. There is a nice sized parking lot and picnic tables as well. Reccomended for kids and...
