My son and I traveled from route 183 to route 501 (about 13 miles) on the Appalachian trail, this is mainly the Weiser State Forest. We hiked this in the fall and was able to take in some great views from some of the lookouts.

Great place to hike on and off the Appalachian Trail. Lots of loop options using the AT and other (local) trails there. Beware of one particular local with 2 German Shepherds, the younger one named Bear, that lives up there and walks them without being on leashes. Twice this dog, snarling and ferociously barking, has come after and threatened my dog who was leashed. This lady has no control over that dog and is unfortunately something to watch...
