I usually go somewhere else for apple picking but decided to take my family to Blue Jay's this year. Giving a 2 star because of rude, disrespectful staff members. One in particular comes to mind. It was very hot and my infant wanted to be fed while we were apple picking so I decided stop at a shaded area to quickly give her a bottle . My husband took our two other kids to see the pumpkins while I was feeding our infant. I took our kids' 2 apple bags placed them in the stroller basket. A staff member on a motorized scooter stopped next to me and said that I am taking too many apples. I politely explained to him that the bags tipped over when placed under the stroller basket and that the bags are not overfilled and that he can check them. The staff member continued to scold me. I just thought it was ridiculous. Wouldnt I cover the stroller basket if I was really trying to steal apples or take more than I should? I posted a picture to show how "overfilled" the bags were. Unfortunately, my kids enjoyed their time so I cannot say that I won't return.Hopefully, it will a different...

Blue Jay Orchards in Bethel, Connecticut, is a must-visit for anyone looking for a classic fall experience! The apple picking here is fantastic, with a wide variety of apples to choose from. Whether you like your apples sweet or tart, there’s something for everyone. The pumpkin patch is equally charming, with plenty of perfectly shaped pumpkins to pick for your fall décor or carving.

The orchard's location is perfect for a scenic fall outing, nestled in the heart of Connecticut's beautiful countryside. The surrounding foliage during peak season is breathtaking, with vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow painting the landscape. The country store on-site is adorable, filled with delicious apple cider donuts that are a must-try, as well as an assortment of homemade jams and other goodies. It has a cozy, rustic vibe that makes you feel like you've stepped into a true country gem. There are also plenty of cool spots around the orchard to snap some great photos—perfect for capturing your fall day out. Blue Jay Orchards is definitely a place to make lasting...

Donald (the staff) should not work with people, he can not maintain polite conversation and does not have an intention to solve the problems in a good way: The place is nice. Enough of apple chose, but some of staff are mean. Donald, the man on the little truck, noticed a couple of apples my child had out of the bag. I was telling her not to take them, but I did not expect to be treated so badly after all. He stopped us with friends and told that we are stealing the apples. I apologized, told that I did not know the rules and wanted to return the apples. He did not want to accept them and made me buy another bag.

I understand there are rules, but he really was mean to me and my child. No smile and politeness was present on his side, just angry rude orders. This was our first apple picking experience with my child and I don't think we will want to do it ever again..

Ps. I went to the manager later (she was nice) and returned that extra bag; however, I am not able to bring back the mood for my...

Great place for the entire family. It’s not overwhelmingly large like other places. The abundance of available apples were great. I liked that they had pre-picked apples in bins to choose from and we were able to explore the trees and pick our own. For $20 we got so many apples. The pumpkin area was also great and full of pumpkins of all sizes and colors. It was a nice scenic area for pictures and just a nice chill time with the family. No admission fee which made it a hit for us. Finally, the store has SO many great things to choose from and the apple cider donuts as well as the sparkling apple cider was just so delicious. My only regret was not buying more of the sparkling cider. I highly recommend as a fun family outing.

Blue Jay is a classic spot in this neck of the woods. If you are from the area chances are such as myself u have been coming here since you were little and now bring your children here as well. The prices have gone up over the years but they are family owned and habe a lasting dedication to producing wonderful apples in a great variety. They work very hard to keep the place going so for that reason I dont mind spending a couple extra bucks for picking. This place tho does have the best cider donuts I have found anywhere to date (although recently they could use a resting screen n not rush their baked goods out so quickly to keep the grease to a minimum) def worth a family outing or three!
