Strenuous but beautiful hike. Road to trailhead parking is really bad. Looks like the flash floods damage it but is passable. I wouldn't recommend low profile vehicles to try to make it through. Low profile vehicles maybe should park at Hatchery and the 38 at the entrance. This hike starts at a slow incline and will get your heart rate going. Your breaks are when trail goes down and then you must go up again. I recommend hiking poles for the down hill back down. Hardest switchbacks are a mile before you summit. Great time to catch your breath and hydrate. Views are beautiful from every corner. Old Greyback looks stunning from many places on your way up. Watch out for falling trees. Yesterday 9-4-22 the trail was clear on the way up. On the way down, half a mile before the trailhead, an old tree fell and was now blocking the trail. Had to hop over it. If you're looking for a challenging hike and solitude, this is the hike. Carry plenty of water on this hot days. The flow of the creek at the beginning of the hike is low.

Hey there, my dear friends! I wanted to share my recent hiking adventure with all of you. It turned out to be the most challenging trek I've ever undertaken, especially considering I don't have much experience in hiking. I came back with quite a few blisters, and I'm letting you know this so you can be prepared for your own journey, as your feet might slip on the rocky terrain. Our group consisted of four people on this adventure, and we all unanimously agreed that this was the toughest hike we've ever done. Just imagine: we hiked for about 8 hours, mostly uphill, on rugged and rocky trails. Even the journey back wasn't easy. The high elevation had some side effects on all of us. The hike itself took us through what seemed like an endless forest, with a few breathtaking views along the way until we approached the summit. But you know what's really exciting? We successfully reached the top!

Awesome hike! The views were spectacular, and the trail offered almost complete solitude - even on a Saturday. The way up was definitely strenuous as others have said. It's pretty consistently uphill. Bring water and snacks. The ridge that the 2nd part of the trail runs along offered some amazing sweeping views. We saw 2 people at the trailhead and then nobody else for the remainder of the hike. We hiked about 1 hour from our Airbnb to get here, so not sure about the parking situation. It's relatively close to Sugarloaf and the hike in was cool as well. Definitely recommend this one for moderate-experienced hikers! 🥾
