Big Moose Mountain Ski Area — Attraction in Big Moose Township

This is my absolute favorite ski mountain to go to. Conditions are usually pretty mint due to the amount of snow in the area and the views overlooking beautiful Moosehead Lake are incredible. You can see many beautiful mountains in the distance including Kineo and Katahdin. Another great reason to go here is the price. It is extremely cheap to go here and the staff is great. It’s like $30-45 depending on your age and it’s also very cheap to get rentals if needed. They have a very fun terrain pair which is great for beginners and intermediate riders. If you feel up to it you can walk to the very top of the mountain after you get off the only lift in service there. The walk to the top take anywhere from a hour to two hours depending on your speed. I recommend doing it because the view is incredible and they groom a trail that goes all the way to the top so you can have mint skiing all to yourself down the mountain. Outstanding, "exceeds expectations" experience for all! Great atmosphere, great Customer Service, the team was solid all around. Hannah went above and beyond, Kent was a great snowboard instructor (really make it easy and click), and Randy was awesome in Rentals. Conditions were outstanding and the trails were well groomed. 3 newer snowboarders (mom, dad, daughter 9yrs old) - had a great time and couldn't recommend a better mountain for learning and enjoying "long lazy trails" - probably close to 20 runs, couldn't ask for more. it was a shame because I used to love skiing this mountain. I've got to give it 2 stars because the conditions were horrible. exposed grass and sticks, and icy. one of the sticks caught in my friend's ski and made them wipe out. not cool I would've asked for my money back but I know it's being run by a volunteer group so I know they need the money. the people who work there are WONDERFUL this is a great mtn to ski, but you need to make sure your going on a day when they just got good snow.
