A wonderful visit! We stopped into the Middlesex Canal Museum today and had the pleasure of meeting Neil, who made our experience truly memorable. You really have to search for this small museum, which is about 5 miles out of Lowell. The Middlesex Canal was one the country's first canals and this little museum covers it in great detail. It is a tad dated, but being a small museum, they do their best. The staff is quite knowledgeable and helpful. We used the function room, which was nice. Rustic and good sized for a smaller group, I wouldn't try to get 100+ people in there. Our group of about 20 for with no problems. The museum itself is neat, if you're familiar with the area, but it's not the kind of museum you might expect. Mostly just pictures and info about the old mill and the surrounding area.
