Top notch... if you're white and rich. Rude. For the outdoor venue I was sure they could accommodate a little larger group of 7. I am glad to see that I am not the only one who had a terrible experience. If you go with more than 4 or 5 people, or are people of color, expect to not be served. Expect to have them act like they look for a space only to be told they actually have to stick to the reservations. It was pretty obvious by the stares and non-service that we were not welcome. Try Hawkins Farmes. Great place with super friendly staff.

In response to this establishments reply:

Your reply looks very generic and much the same as every other reply to a bad review. Your hostess told my group that we could sit at 2 separate tables after looking at the reservations. We accepted this without question even tho the venue is outdoors. She then returned and told us she could not. So, my only conclusion was that we were not welcome. Your 'safety guidelines' are your own creation, because it certainly isn't following any state mandated guidelines. Thank you for your...

Visited Shady Lane Cellars yesterday for the first time with a group of girls. We made reservations and this was our last stop for our wine tour of the Leelanau Peninsula. Upon our arrival, we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful location, however we soon found out that the scenery was the only thing we would enjoy during our visit. The staff were rude, unaccommidating and extremely disorganized. Flights were ordered at the outdoor bar where the glasses were labeled with abbreviations for the varietal of wine. This sounds like a great idea, but they failed to take names or identify any way of whom each flight should be delivered. As a result, several of the women in my party did not receive the correct wines. The staff members were much more concerned with enforcing social.distancing guidelines rather than providing even a modicum of decent customer service. This visit was our first and also our last to Shady Lane Cellars. Absolutely horrible! Drop the attitudes and learn how to...

The wine was OK very nice facility. We went up there with a few friends and out of no where the assistant manager came up and forcefully took two friends glasses full of wine and said they were cut off... now I know people have bad days etc, but that was the most unprofessional uncalled for situation I have witnessed. I stood up for the girls as they were very shocked to have that happen. People talk... if this was my place I would have fired her instantly. We will no longer be associated with your vineyard. Very disappointed.

UPDATE : I'm Sorry Rick were you there? The answer is No, you were nowhere to be found. Leadership in a business is very important and whenever employees act out of line on customers it reflects what poor leadership they do have. It's hard for me to read your comment and NOT respond to the false accusations you are persuing.

I highly recommend that nobody spends their money here. There are plenty of vineyards with better wine and much better...

This was our favorite stop and of the utmost quality. A fellow Winemaker friend turned us on to the hidden gem up in Sutton’s Bay. All the wines were nuanced and spoke to their terroir. I was most impressed by the reds which have shown great advancement for their entire AVA especially with the current offerings. The hospitality and carefully curated wine tasting room property rivals the greats on the Finger Lakes. I felt as if we had the full Michigan experience by relaxing on their patio by the fire with a glass of estate grown juice. We bought a case but would’ve purchased more if we weren’t flying.

I fell IN LOVE with Shady Lane 10 years ago. Out of all of the wineries, this is my FAVORITE! The buildings are beautiful and the outdoor tasting bar is stunning. Nice outdoor seating. The wine is GORGEOUS! My favorite is the Franc n Franc. However, the Cab Franc is super nice too. ( Make sure to let this one REALLY breathe ) My daughter enjoys the Late Harvest Riesling. I always keep a couple of bottles on hand for her. I have a 40 bottle wine rack filled strictly with Michigan wines. Shady Lane takes up over a 1/3. This is my 3rd birthday wine trip and I couldn't wait to come visit!

At the Shady Lane Cellars I had a wonderful host named Sally. She was upbeat and extremely informative/helpful. She answered our questions quickly and, from what I can tell from the 4 flights of tastings we did, accurately. I ended up purchasing two bottles of wine. I purchased a deliciously light and sweet Reisling called the Late Harvest Reisling and a red wine: the Pinot Noir Reserve. The reserve was so much better than the original pinot that I couldn't resist the additional purchase. Because we had a membership at this location, we were able to save a decent amount of money.
