Beautiful area, what some people might call "God's country". Driving up 168 toward Lake Sabrina you feel like you are in the Swiss Alps, the enormous open canyon, the towering snow-capped peaks, in fall, the wonderful yellows and oranges and reds in the trees make this a scenic paradise. There are three main roads that take you up the canyon, 168 which goes to Lake Sabrina, North Lake Road, which is a gravel road right on the edge of a cliff in spots (NOT for the faint of heart!) and takes you to North Lake/Piute Pass area, and South Lake Rd, which takes you to...you guessed it, South Lake. All three of these destinations are major hiking and backpacking trailheads, taking you into the heart of the very best parts of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The whole area has something for everyone, you can make an easy day trip for a picnic or leisurely stroll, hop in a boat or kayak and go fishing, or have your hiking and backpacking adventures. Truly a gem, an outdoor paradise.

I really enjoyed this area. We stayed near Sabrina Lake and also took the alternate path to South Lake. Both area had a lot of beauty. We visited before prime time to see autumn colors but were lucky to see some early colors near Sabrina Lake. With all the aspens there I could see this area would be fantastic during the height of fall colors.

Bishop Canyon is an absolutely amazing and beautiful place to visit in the fall as the trees are changing colors. There are multiple trails and lakes in Bishop Canyon and some incredible mountain scenery. Highly recommend visiting if near Bishop in the Fall.
