Absolutely breath taking Lake with Temple Crag looming over its southern shores. The lake is fed by glacial water so has an unbelievable aquamarine color to it. The main trail comes right upto the lake and there are plenty of campsites wrapping around the east and north shores to accommodate the number of permits that are given out for this trailhead.

After 17 kilometers of mountain hike, we had the chance to see these incredibly beautiful lakes. In fact, Big Pine consists of seven, and you can camp here with permission. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a place and only got the first two goals.

Others before me have summed it up, so for brevity, I will just say that this is an amazing hike/site that anyone in the country, and the world, should do see/do. The peaks and glacial region of the High Sierras is like another world.
