Unlike North Fork, South Fork at Big Pines is not known for it's impressive lakes, but this less traveled gem takes you along creeks and atop glaciers. Those that search for finger lakes at the end of the trail, will be treated to a hidden waterfall and a John Muir sighting! I found a sweet hammock spot just before the creek crossing, and leaned into the hammock life on a Monday in early July. * Covid note - not many people, but I did pass a 8+ family group. I was masked up, and remembered to recreate responsibly

I only visited the splits from North Fork because I wanted to take it easy on my knees. I loved the slope that connects the two versus the North Fork steps! I must revisit and get to the Finger Lakes!
