This is one of the places to go touring around if you're a visitor to Asheville. They do birthday parties, horse riding, classes and workshops, and of course they have a store full of their wares. It is expensive, but they are considered the highest quality of meats and products here in Asheville, and any resident here will tell you HNG is the place to get stunning jerky, meats, etc. I live about 20 minutes from there and buying pigs in bulk is reallllly reasonably priced from them, much lower costs than other butcheries around the area which surprised me. If you're doing a big cook out, you can get amazing meat for pretty cheap buying in bulk via special orders. They also state their prices right on their website, which I appreciate a lot. I just ordered some of their chunky farm pate and it was incredible. They have a cafe and some really awesome ice cream (including bacon maple ice cream with their delicious bacon right in it) as well. In the summers they do Friday night barn dances. There is a lot to do here, and it's all well away from downtown. On the way there, stop by Flying Cloud Farms and check out their honor-system produce stand on the side...

Read moreToday I went to the Hickory Nut Gap Farm store specifically to purchase a couple roasts and chorizo. To my delight the person who manages the CSA was there and she told me all about how it works. She open several boxes so I could see what was included, she explained where and when pick ups/deliveries happen, and what to do if there are cuts you don’t like. She was wonderful and I regret I did not inquire as to her name. This was an unparalleled experience. If you are looking for quality meat with a very extensive variety of cuts and flavors go to HNG. I became a CSA member today and in addition to the small box I also got a chuck roast, which I enjoyed for dinner tonight, and a couple of speciality flavors of sausage(blueberry and maple and Swedish potato and onion). I am so excited to begin my CSA adventure with HNG and explore all they have to offer. Also, my box had a whole chicken which made...
