Some people must have full and difficult loads that take a long time to complete with a pd lumper. It's a nice place. I would del here again. They have a staging area but it's small so I just park at a nice place down the street with other trucks. They don't use porta potties instead they have those nice rental units on trailers with stairs. One at the front gate and one at each set of docks. Idk if you can access the employee break room or not I didn't try. Most places you can. Park at staging, walk the paperwork to the gate to check in and simply wait for a text to drive up for a door assignment. The docks have enough room to back in without opening doors first. Bump dock with the paperwork inside the trailer. Pay the lumper using ur phone and when the Lt turns green you free to leave. There is parking on the rt side of the driveway on the way out by the pond if needed. I was only here for three hrs. Checked in at 0500 and got a door right away. Lumper was paid and got a green Lt at 0815..
I'm pretty sure that some of the bad reviews to this place taking a long time to unload and release them is bc they operate by the driver leaving the bills in the trailer. When they are done and sign the bills they put the bills back inside the trailer and give you a green Lt so you know you can simply leave. Every time I've been there never fails that the guy next to me is complaining of being there forever even thou he has a green Lt. Says he's waiting on a phone call. When I tell him they put the paperwork in the trailer and he can leave they always appear shocked that they didn't know that's how they operate. Even thou there are signs posted in the guard shack when you get ur dock assignment and it also states it on the paperwork they give you. So if these drivers would just pay attention and read the paperwork and the signs while you get ur dock assignment you would already know and wouldn't need to leave a bad review. I did it the first time I was there and learned my lesson. The last time I was there the guy next to me had been waiting over an hour since the Lt went green. When I told him the paperwork was in the trailer he was mad at himself but at least he thanked me for telling him. Wonder how many drivers sit at the dock waiting for a phone call when the paperwork has been in the trailer for a...
Read moreI'm giving this place only 1 star for the dumbest, most unorganized staging and check-in process ever. First of all, you drive to the staging area, park, and go inside to check in. They'll tell you to go back to your truck, and they will text you when they have a door. The staging area itself is the problem. It's just straight lanes—maybe 5 or 6 lanes. Unless you're in the very front, you can get trapped in. People pull past the dotted lines, and as soon as you move to let someone out, guess what? The next truck behind you pulls up, leaving you without a spot. Most of your fellow truck drivers won't give you the courtesy of moving so you can get through when it's your turn because they either don't understand English or think they are going to get blocked in or that somebody is going to get ahead of them. You can get there as soon as they open, but it doesn't matter. It seems like they don't go by any kind of appointment. When I arrived there, there were people before me still waiting and later on people who came after me receiving a door assignment before me. Also, they don't give out door assignments one at a time it's several trucks at a time causing more chaos and confusion like trying to play tetris with trucks to get through there. It's only one lane for otr drivers to get in line at once you receive the text the other lane is for their own drivers so you could of finally made it to the front waiting patiently for the line to move and guess what another driver to your left just got the text now he's jumping in front of you then apparently the person behind him got a text just then as well and he pulls ups too then pretty much you will be waiting and waiting for way longer than you should be even though you got the text way before the other drivers and been waiting already for 5 hours for a door it would piss anybody off so I just said screw it I can't get in line I'm using the Ingles drivers lane pulled up got the plastic with paper in it you use to put your paperwork in it and...
Read moreIt's not the best place to unload, but it's certainly not the worst. They won't allow you to come in and park until 0300. If you try it, they will run you off. Parking is limited in the area, but there are a few creative spots around.
Check-in for perishable loads begins at 0300; I'm not sure about dry loads. If the broker told you that you have a specific appointment, they lied. Show up between 0300 and 0400 to get a door. Once you get parked in the corral, you can check in one of three ways. Call the gate (number is posted on sign as you pull in to parking lot), over the CB, or walk your bills up to the guard gate. Around 0400, they'll start giving people dock assignments. Little tip, the docks are spread out far enough where you can back in and then open your doors. Please, for the love of God, don't hold up everyone else while you block up the docks to waddle yourself back and open your doors. Drivers aren't allowed in the building so place your bills in the back of your trailer before backing in. Lumpers will call you with your total and come collect once they're finished.
Unload times are pretty much like every other grocery warehouse. Depending on what you have and the amount of breakdown it requires you can expect to be there between 2 and 4 hours.
Everyone that works there from the guards to the lumpers are pretty cool. I've been delivering to this location for over 12 years and never had any issues with...
