It is hilarious to see fellow RDR fans posting here... some very creative comments and even vidoes. I am sure the town is secretly enjoying the extra fanfare from the game beyond its own real historical significance. regardless whether the game was inspired by this town--i did find multiple actual localities that matched the game scenes including the shirley plantation house in my home city and sylvan lake in black hills region--this town, or the mainstreet area, is tastefully preserved from an age that's long gone. certainly has many elements remind me of the game, a true interactive walk in the past. saw a few other tourists taking pictures on the main street---wondering if they came here because of the game. we drove through with our trailer (not a wagon) on our journey back east, and chanced on the billboard of "historical blackwater", which immediately drew my attention and decided to take a side detour off the highway, and struggled to turn in the narrow streets but drove by the old depot, which was equally impressive in its old glory... stopped by to get coffee so we can linger a little more--even my wife liked the little town, which is clearly off the radar screen to most travelers. Maybe that's for the best so the town can remain quiet and keep its roots intact, unlike the celebrity towns such as deadwood...
