If we have to pay $9 for parking because we aren't a resident and the fee goes towards upkeep, then UPKEEP FOR GODS SAKE!!! The shower house is old and they use an industrial size fan to circulate air that looks like its never been cleaned so thats flying all over and the toilet stall its over doesnt lock on top of dan dirt going everywhere! The whole shower house was filthy!! You could see a water ring in the shower where this was not the first time this had happened. Indiana campgrounds are overpriced with that stupid park fee when you don't even use the park!!! Camp in Ohio, folks. It's not that far to have a better experience and cheaper rates. There are no park fees cause the parks are free and if you pay in person for your campsite there's no registration fee either.oh and, for God's sake, stop treating people like criminals. I walked 2 miles to pay for my site because my bank was glitching, and online was not working for me. So instead of waiting any longer, I walked 2 miles with asthma and not one host offered me a ride as they past me, not one park staff person offered, but did however treat me like I was trying to steal a campsite nite feom them! Nikki dressed like a zoo keeper in the camp store, and she's young but doesn't know a thing about how tap pay works? Come on!! Learn then if you work with tap pay!!!! Get a better attitude and stop stalking people with you, coworker, whatever her name is. Goofy slid up against me, leaving the off8ce saying, "Excuse me, I don't want to startle you. Dude, there is a whole room, so whyyyyyy did you slide up past me like that?!?! I'm just weirded out by these people, and we won't be back. INDIANA, no...
Read moreDogs barked constantly all weekend in Loop B, not Loop A as much. Neighbors notified the host but we never saw anything done. The rain kept them inside finally. We were on Site 98, it has an extreme grade right where the camper sits. Luckily we happened to have extra cribbage. We needed it all. Needed an extra 14" to level. Loop B, on the water, are all very tight. We all had to move vehicles and help fellow campers get in and out. This was the most I've ever had to help anywhere we have been. I don't mind but some tree removal and added site framing would help a ton! The lake is huge and very nice to go out on. An Eagle is straight out and to the right from the campground area. Minks were on the islands closest to Loop B. And one last thing...mow the grass instead of walking around handing out weekend itinerary papers that the guard could add to entry kit. Grass was 8 inches tall on all sites that weren't flat. Not a relaxing weekend, luckily we had a group with us to make it better. Do better...
Read moreWhat a fantastic camping spot! We are newer campers but we will definitely be back! The loop B campsites are almost all right on the water and you can launch and park your kayaks right by your campsite. The campsites are sizeable albeit on a slight slope. The lake is beautiful and very calm, excellent for kayaking. The facilities were clean and close to our spot. The sunset view in the sunset trail was awesome.
They no longer do daily rentals for kayaks and the hourly rate is a little costly. Be aware of this as the website still states they offer daily kayak rentals. Get there early as the rentals were all pretty much gone when we were coming back from our kayaking time.
This is a fantastic cheap weekend getaway with awesome views. And it's so close to central Indy! They are extremely booked out so book early if you want to find a spot. I would recommend loop B for anyone with tents as it is very shaded as compared to the other one.
We had a fantastic time and will be back! What a fantastic...
