We had a horrible experience at our cabins and with SCC. Upon arrival at Tuckaway Cave in Cherry Hill, our advertised âfully equippedâ kitchen was missing dish towels and lighters for the fire pit, causing an immediate trip back into town. As noted in previous reviews, and now confirmed by our own experience, house keeping does not include the outdoor covered patio areas, which were filthy despite a hose nearby due to the hot tub.
Inside there were spider and dust webs everywhere. They were hanging on the ceiling beams over beds, light fixtures, fans, and on decor. The shower upstairs had a leak, forcing us to clean up water and use pots to collect water sharing one shower. The beds were uncomfortable, with noticeable springs and half the outdoor string lights were out. However, we did not complain did our own cleaning, and rolled with it.
The tipping point that led to complaining was a mice infestation. We became suspicious when we found lots of mouse poison throughout the cabin, even under the beds. Upon returning home, we discovered mouse droppings all over the kitchen counter and table. Our food had been eaten and tapered with by mice along with our clean dishes. Upon closer inspection around the cabin, we found droppings in every nook and cranny. This had clearly been a problem before our arrival.
Everyone could not sleep and was to grossed out to eat, we found more mess from the mice the next morning and had to clean it up again. SCC offered up two alternative cabins to move too, but the one we chose, License to Chill, looked nothing like the picture once we arrived and was extremely dated and worn inside and out. It also had a filthy outdoor space that made it unusable, no views or fire pit as depicted in pics (below you can see SCC website pic of mt. views vs actual view taken by us at sunsetâŠno mts.) and another bathroom that was backing up in the shower.
We have been in communication with SCC, who only offered us less than $320 dollars based on a 7 day stay for compensation, which doesnât even cover the supplies we had to buy and food lost due to rodents. After the fact, management was difficult to reachâŠalways an excuse, and when we did reach them, we felt dismissed. We will never waste our time and money with SCC again.
Rebuttal to SCC response below:
We perviously stayed in 3 of their cabins, this is the only one with âpreventativeâ rodent baits. Again, they knew mice were there.
They say they reimbursed usâŠour lodging was just under $3,000 dollars we got $320 dollars from them. They offered a free night stay, which is a common promotion on their website when booking 2 nights.
I was sent an email from SCC to review my stay at Tuckaway Cave and wrote about the mice infestation and it appears they chose not to post it. Be sure to read all the one-star reviews before booking your reservation and you will...

I booked Above Raven Ridge Cabin Sept 23, 2024, for a check in date of Dec 23rd - Dec 27th. On December 23rd my extended family drove 15 hours, and my family drove 2-1/2 hours to "Above Raven Ridge Cabin." The directions to the cabin were very easy to follow (use the directions they provide because it helps to enter the driveway on the steep decline/incline). There is a long winding road that leads to Sams Crossing, which is the gravel road that goes up the mountain towards the cabin. I highly suggest going left at the roundabout because it helps with entering into the driveway. The driveway is angled kind of weird that makes it difficult to enter from the right. Once we got to the home, the outside was just what we envisioned from the pics (a cabin feel). Once inside, the decor and fireplace brought that cozy and inviting feeling. Unfortunately, that inviting feeling abruptly stopped once we saw the sign stating the fireplace was inoperable. Shortly after that, my autistic nephew, noticed lots of bugs on the window and was freaked out. We kind of disregarded what he saw until the bugs started covering all the lights in the home that were on. There we not 100 there were THOUSANDS of lady bugs and stink bugs. At one point there was a spider in the basement. When I say there was an infestation of LADYBUGS, there was so many lady bugs they were dropping from the ceiling, flying from window to other sources of light and just EVERRY WHERE. Though ladybugs are harmless, my autistic nephew was freaking out and we were afraid bugs would crawl on our 4-month-old while he was asleep.
I called the after-hours number and spoke to a young lady who was very nice and sent help. However, her and the maintenance man seem to be a little nonchalant about the bugs. Stating there is an infestation, and it is normal for this time of year. I was told the only thing that could be done is vacuum them and they will come back. Soo, I got up in the morning and bought ladybug spray. Our entire trip consisted of spraying bugs, sweeping and vacuuming. I requested to be moved to another available cabin after the bugs kept falling and flying near and in our food, we were preparing for Christmas. I was told there was only one available cabin, and it was much bigger, and I would have to pay $4000 extra. I felt that alternative was very unfair and voiced my thoughts because I was never told that there was an infestation of LADY bug. I requested compensation to which I was told I needed to speak with someone Monday. I will wait until Monday but for now, I am very...

The cabin we stayed in was perfect for the first hour upon arrival. In the middle of putting our 3 children (ages 6 and under) to bed after a 9 hour drive my husband notices something on top of the fridge. It is a loaded hand gun, panic begins to set in as all the what ifs and different scenarios run through our heads. A young family in an unfamiliar area, scared and really unsure of what the next move is. Do we stay? Is it safe? Where do we go with 3 kids? We try calling the after hours helpline of Southern Comfort with no answers. Next call was to the non emergency police, an officer comes and as he is disarming the weapon confirms that it was loaded with a bullet in the chamber. His words made my stomach drop. With young kids we do often put stuff on top of the fridge that we donât want them to have such as the remote or iPad. What if one of the kids went to get their iPad? Or the gun got knocked off? So many terrible things could have happened to my family because of peopleâs negligence. Naturally my husband and I got no sleep as all 5 of us stay in one bed. The next morning we call the Southern Comfort office right at 9, no answer. After hours line answers and we tell them the whole story and said they will have someone call us immediately. We finally get a call at 2pm asking if we enjoyed our first night and if we had any issues or concerns!!?? Explaining the whole story (fighting back tears because to me this is a very serious matter) to Tiffany at Southern Comfort, at the end of my story she apologizes for the inconvenience and then asked me to drive the paperwork into the office⊠thatâs it. I really could not even believe how nonchalantly they just brushed the whole situation off. My husband furious calls back and then speaks with Gianna who then tells him that they people staying before us had called to report they had left the gun. SO THEY KNEW ABOUT THE GUN AND DIDNâT REMOVE IT! They continue to act as if this isnât an issue, we keep calling after 2 days of âgetting back to usâ they offer us late check out for out . Completely disgusted with this response we decide to not even call back and try to enjoy our last 2 days with our family. For a company that was started by a family Iâm beyond disappointed with how they handled a family whose lives they put in danger because of miscommunication and negligence.
Needless to say we do...
