Best paintball park in the greater San Antonio area! I played at this park back in 1999 soon after they started this park. It had far fewer props and fewer fields back then... this was before I moved out of state.
NOTE: I have played at Skirmish USA in the pocanos of PA, which is one of the top ten paintball parks in the country. Skirmish was much bigger, but their field props were not as realistic as Preditor Paintball and the Skirmish park was so big that I felt like I wasted half the day hiking between each of the fields. That also gave little to no rest time between games.
Now almost 20 years later and I am back in San Antonio... Preditor Paintball park has added a couple of new fields and improved their field props and bunkers significantly. The rest area is fully shaded and centrally located to most of the fields. The staff are always super cool, and their hospitality went above and beyond on a hot texas day! Bring lots of water!!! We were not as prepared and assumed there would be water onsite. They sell bottled water for a $1, but gave us a bottle of water since they only accepted cash and we only had a credit card.
Game play was great as always, but at the end of the day, the park manager wanted to tryout a new senario game with us: "Black Hawk Down" on the urban field. This senario game was a fun experience because the rangers (group of 4 to 6 players) gets a 4 second headstart to pick a hideout spot and the rest of the players (Samolians) have to hunt them down and take them out within five minutes. This scenario was fun and entertaining. It seems to go better when the rangers are more experienced and can defend eachother better against the Samolians.
My only recomendations for improvement is a 4500psi fill station for people like me who bring a 4500psi tank and maybe a fully stocked drink and snack bar that accepts credit card transactions for those of us who are less prepared. Also, a larger more colorful entry sign would be helpful... almost drove past the drive way. We will surely be back for more recreational paintball at Preditor Paintball park.
Thanks for the...
Read moreI'll start with the good. The fields were really fun. While there aren't any inflatable fields, the woods, urban, and hyperball style fields were laid out well.
That's about it for the positive notes, though. The bad was bad enough that I'll not be going back. The refs were terrible! There was one guy, Roman, who is obviously friends, maybe teammates, with the refs. 3rd game of the day we I shoot him and he calls himself out and raises his marker signaling as much. Apparently, the ref told him it was a bounce and lets him continue playing. Had he called for a paint check, I would have kept an eye on him. I moved on, though, since he called himself out.
The following game, someone knew he was in a building and went to surrender him. The ref called Roman out, but since the 1st guy didn't stop to do whatever it was he was supposed to do to acknowledge the surrender, Roman was allowed to play on.
The final incident that I or my group was aware of, was in our second to last game. He was less than 20 feet from one of my friends (10-12 feet if we're going to get specific). My friend was yelling at him to surrender as we were instructed to do in the rules meeting. The ref standing right behind Roman did nothing about it. Then, Roman lights up my friend with no less than 8-10 rounds. The explanation my friend received from the ref was that it had to be in the same bunker and that it wasn't about distance as much.
The, shall we say gruff, field manager told him that Roman is a tourney player so that happens. If Roman doesn't know the difference between tournament play and open play with a bunch of new or novice players, then he shouldn't be allowed to play open play. In 22 years of playing at more than 2 dozen different fields, I have never seen such favoritism...
Read moreWent for a 12YO birthday party, and he did have a good time, however our “party host” seemed to be annoyed the entire time. To start off we were waiting on one person to arrive and that seemed to really annoy him! Anyway we all get our gear, face mask and gun, then the guest of honor is supposed to get a “special” gun and our host couldn’t get it to work properly (was supposed to have full auto) I was watching as another employee told him to get another gun and he completely ignored him and then went on to say it’s not supposed to have full auto. I didn’t say anything it’s a kids party and not my place. Then I get my mask and test fit it (I wear glasses) well couldn’t get the mask over my glasses so I ask if they have larger masks, nope they do not. But you can purchase one. So literally no way I could have played and be a part of the birthday party without buying a mask ($80+) so I did. We constantly had issues with the guns, hoppers falling off and paint ball falling out, the barrels of the guns coming off during play. I mean come on!!! The website looks amazing but The facilities are super neglected with limited nasty bathrooms! and the guns look 20years old!! it’s too bad they don’t do some maintenance on a place they could be so much better. I hate to be negative, as he did have a good time, but honestly if your reading this and have gotten this far I’d try and find a place that doesn’t have as many...
