What an incredible group of passionate volunteers keeping this history alive. Parents should 100 bring their kids here for an amazing education. Students at Penn State likely have no idea that the "Curtin Road" on campus is THIS Curtin family. I discovered this place after living in Happy Valley for nearly 10 years -- now I am a volunteer. (So, my review is bias but truthful.) You can't beat the sunsets here. My favorite event is the Christmas at the Curtin where the mansion is decked out. I have a jar full of slag because I go "slag hunting" every visit. This place is magical. Visit.

I was there for a Bushcraft Survival event called Uitwaaien Outdoor Bushcrafting. It is a beautiful, serene, quiet little piece of the wilderness. Spent two days and one night there camped out in a tent during the event. Best fun time learning fire starting techniques, animal trapping, knot tying, ax throwing, vendors selling bushcraft survival gear, great comrodery and new and old friends.

Apple festival is extremely disappointing..spent so much time waiting in line. Poorly prepared and managed. The hay bale maze was a dozen hay bakes stacked in a square. Very disappointing for the children.

Worth a stop along the way. Fine example of an iron blast furnace from the 18 century. The charge house and water wheel have been rebuilt so yoy can see how the whole place is supposed to operate. Tours thru the owners mansion and other structures on the property where closed when we were there but you can walk...
