I wish negative stars was a thing. The celebration for my best friend's birthday was ruined. First I would like to say I made a reservation 3 weeks prior the date. After driving an hour and fourty-five my party and I arrived to haunting looking house. It was no signs to tell us where to park so we decided to continue following the driveway. Once we made it the back I decided to park because the area looked familiar due to photos I've saw online. However in person it looked very disgusting and not ready to be used in any type of way. Once parked I called the number for the "winery", a gentleman answer the phone, "yea". I asked if this was Tilford Winery. His response "yea". I went on to explain to him I had scheduled a reservation and I had arrived. His response was "let me call my wife and see if she is home". Shortly after Mrs.Tilford appeared. She stated she did not know we was coming. We then enter the building still optimistic of a great time despite the lack of professionalism we had already experienced. Once inside ants were EVERYWHERE! On the table and on the chairs. Mrs.Tilford then sprayed Lysol to get rid of them I'm guessing. After the ants were semi taking care of, it was time to learn a thing or two about about wine(which is why I wanted to come to a winery. I wanted to learn a fact or two from a "winery prospective".) No facts only excuses as to why they weren't prepared. After only tasting 6 wines we were told,"alright ladies that's all I have." By this time EVERYONE is ready to leave this horrible waste of our time. When standing up to depart I noticed the ants had been biting my hand I asked for some alcohol. Mrs.Tilford then attempts to spray "spray and go" on my hand. I told her I just wanted alcohol minus the other ingredients. I just used hand sanitizer and left immediately. I never write reviews but this placed deserved it! Very unprofessional! Horrible visual! Disgusting wine. Just a waste of a day. A...
Read moreWine was good, only had 3 to taste. Showed up and wasn't sure which building to go to. Called 2-3 times before getting an answer. After pouring three glasses, he got a phone call, exited the building, opened the door to tell us we could come out, then went back into their home. Didn't come back out after waiting 5 or so minutes, so we left. Never had the chance to even purchase a bottle. Overall, very weird experience and I know I won't be...
Read moreWARNING! Tastings are $22 per person (which was not disclosed up front), and it's all muscadine wine... definitely an acquired taste (I think it tastes like vinegar). We arrived during regular business hours but no one was there. I called the phone number and they said someone would be there in 10 minutes. So we waited for someone to arrive and open up... unfinished facilities with ants. Pretty unprofessional...
