Since Edg-Clif was nice enough to remove the review from Kelly, the wedding coordinator from the wedding we went to recently, I will try to bullet point what she mentioned.

This is no reflection of the winery itself, the wines or beers that they create as we were only privy to the Winery as a venue to the wedding we attended.

As someone who has attended a fair share of weddings and who's husband worked for a very popular hotel in Florida in their banquet department, we have seen a lot, but nothing like things we witnessed at Edg-Clif.

The owners were lurkers - constantly hovering over the family of the groom while they set up the pavilion with decorations etc. There were still winery guests there after 4pm that the family had to work around when they were told they were to have access at 4pm. They were bossy and rude and made it very unpleasant for the groom's family while they were setting up.

In a rebuttal from the owners to Kelly's review (which was deleted), they stated that they were not able to get the table linens because the 4 volunteers in the office/groom area would not let them, was a complete lie. We moved everything out of their way so they could access the linens without a problem. And the linens were something to be desired - all were wrinkled, stained and noticeably just awful!

The groom's friends brought alcohol in for the groom not knowing the rules of no outside alcohol due to liability. So instead of asking them to remove it (put it back in their cars), the owners just took it and denied taking it 3x. They finally admitted to it once continually questioned and stated that it was brought in on purpose and that is why it was taken - which was not true.

The one owner, Steven, interrupted the ceremony with a shouting match with another employee. He allowed his dog to roam around during the couple's first dance and reception. Hit a guest car with his hand. Screamed at the mother of the bride while she was driving the bride closer to the ceremony location. Was going thru the catered food while all the guests were at the ceremony (witnessed by a few guests). He yelled at the Cake Baker when she tried to put the blinds down to protect the cakes from melting since it was very hot that day. He was just rude, scary and downright UNPROFESSIONAL.

Parking was a mess, there was no close parting for the handicapped guests, causing them to walk a great distance. The parking field was so dark, absolutely no lighting - that is where people were told to move, since parking in the area marked 'Parking' was not an option

At one point, before the event ended at 10pm. One of the owner came over to the mother of the groom and handed her a broom and dust pan 'to help clean up'. The event wasn't even over yet, causing the bride and groom to feel like they should end it since the owners brought out the broom. The family started to pick up some of the stuff on the tables, but by no means, cleaning up completely since they had until 10pm.

There were balloons with large gold confetti. The owners insisted that the family pick up all of the confetti, by hand and shopvac, from the pavilion area as well as the grass - in the pitch dark. The family stayed until midnight to make sure everything was to the owner's approval.

So in conclusion, Edg-Clif should concentrate on what they are good at, making wines and beers and NOT hosting weddings! I would not recommend this venue for anything more than wine tastings since most of the staff does not know how act during a more 'elegant' type...

My first and last time ever being here was this weekend. We went to a wedding at Edg-Clif and I would NEVER NEVER recommend this venue. Rude and disrespectful are two of the nicest words I would use to describe the owners. After the ceremony had started, the male owner, Steven, screamed at the mother of the bride to move her vehicle as she was letting the bride out of the vehicle in order to avoid walking through gravel in her wedding dress. His shouting disrupted the ceremony and everyone turned around to stare and see what the commotion was about. While my husband was parking my car, Steven also hit the back of my vehicle with his hand nearly breaking the glass. They made several people move their vehicles, even though they were parked in the area that says "Parking". The parking area we were made to move to was a large field with zero lighting. A guest had their credit card and ID stolen from their vehicle. Not only that, but some of those that had to move their cars included handicapped individuals forcing them to walk a great distance. During the ceremony, we observed Steven opening up the lids off of our food that the caterer had dropped off. Also, during the ceremony, he and a female were shouting back and forth at each other causing further interruption to the ceremony. They also have a large dog on site that was running loose in the reception area while the guests were trying to eat and even ran across the dance floor of the reception during the couples first dance. Not only that, the venue was rented and paid for from 4:00-10:00 pm and they still had outside guests present until nearly 5:00 pm, making the set up for the reception incredibly tight on time. Overall, we made the best of it and tried to shield the bride and groom from this, after all, it should be a special day for them. The number of guests that complained about being treated poorly by the owners was disheartening. A lot of money went into this rental and unfortunately it was a nightmare from start to finish due to the absolutely disgusting way that guests and wedding party were treated by the owners of this establishment. This is just a sampling of what we endured at the hands of the owners that night. There is much more. Do yourself a big favor if you are planning a wedding or know someone who is and stay FAR FAR away from this place. If I could give zero stars on this review, I would.

EDIT: I have read the owners response and challenge them to let me know which part of my review was inaccurate.

Was it Steven hitting my car? Was it the large dog that ran across the dance floor during the first dance and reception? Was it the mother of the bride getting screamed at? Was it the food being gone through? Was it the missing credit card and ID? Was it making handicap people move their cars? Was it the fact that your guests didn’t leave until long after the venue was reserved for a...

While driving through Mark Twain Forest, looking for someplace to hike, saw a sign for a winery. Figured we could stop to get hiking information, if it was open. Luckily open on Labor Day (and all holiday Mondays). Met one of the proprietors while getting a wine tasting. My husband, originally from Northern California, and who won't admit he is a wine snob, was unexpectedly surprised at the unlit of the wine. We ended up buying two bottles of wine and wine glassses. She and her husband gave us a wealth of information on hiking. We were tentatively planning on staying at a hotel in Cuba, MO. They told us they had a cottage on AirBnB. We checked it out and fell in love. We stayed the night in the quaint cottage, enjoyed the wine at the outdoor fire pit. Wished we had more time to stay! Would love to...

Just spent another fantastic weekend at Edg-Clif winery in Potosi, Missouri! Beautiful setting, friendly staff, amazing family business, and an impressive selection of unique award-winning wines and beers. “Corner Cottage” was clean and comfortable for three couples, and staying two nights definitely allowed us to fully enjoy our visit. A great time of relaxing with friends, sunrise walks, food, drink, and live music during the day, grilling and campfire in the evening before a refreshing shower and a comfortable bed. Like camping without the miserable parts. Highly recommend!!

This was a serendipitous find that saved our rained out camping day and turned it into a very enjoyable afternoon. The covered outdoors wine garden and tasting “room” were comfortable, beautiful, and perfect! The wines were great…the Farmhouse beer impressive. And we didn’t have to leave our pooch at the camper as they allow leashed doggos. Glad this place is less than 2 hours from home as it will make a great destination for a beautiful rural fall drive!

The best winery in Missouri, and I have been to almost every one... All wines are excellent across the board. Have yet to find another Missouri winery as consistent as this one. The Vidal Blanc, Vignoles and Classic Chambourcin are excellent. There is an outdoor pavilion with bar. Live music on the weekends. They have several homes for rent on the property as well. A nice day trip that you will want to repeat.
