No digging required! There is enough agate, druzy quartz, quartz, and even some hematite near the creek laying on top of the ground that you can just pick it up and put it in your bucket. Perfect for any age or ability. You can also purchase larger rocks, like yard size, for a very reasonable amount since they won't fit in your bucket.

The owner was amazing and checked on us often to see if we wanted a ride to one of the other sites on the property. He even told us where to look for specific specimens.

We were allowed to bring our cooler with us... He loaded it on the side by side and dropped it at our locations with us. It was about 89° that day and sunny so be sure to take sunblock, bug spray, and wear appropriate clothing. We did still pick up some ticks despite the spray so be sure you check yourself very well since these were the tiny ones that look like a freckle.

They do take debit cards. There is a portable john on the property and it was the cleanest one I have ever seen. If you want to wash your rocks on site to decide which ones to keep you will need to bring an empty bucket or use one of his and dip water out of one of the pools from the rain. I was glad I brought an extra small bucket that I could haul around and wash the ones I wasn't sure about. Bring gloves. Crystals can be sharp when you're digging them out. I wish I had packed a toothbrush or scrub brush to really see what I had.

BEST DIGGING EXPERIENCE Came down for the Annual Crystal Dig with The Crystal Collector, and I can not praise the whole team enough 🙌 From greeting you to information booth to sign waivers, they pick you up in ATVs and transport you down to dig sites. They were continually turning the dirt with excavator but finding the beautiful Drusy crystals on surface was plentiful! For this particular dig it was $35 a bucket, can bring your own or purchase theirs for $4 which they have plenty scattered among the dig site. This isn't like the quartz digs where you stay in 1 spot, and I wish I hadn't but I still came out with 7 buckets full of the most unique Drusy crystals in a variety of colors and gemness! If it doesn't fit, he bargains an amazing rate for you! They will also come pick you up, carry buckets into the atv for you and drive you back.. Can't wait to get back here! Posted a few videos & photos as I'm still cleaning crystals!! These aren't even...

I have been rock hounding/ mining for over 10 years and this is hands down my favorite place. It was a great experience for my first time rock hounding kid also. It's $30 per 5 gallon bucket. We were there for an hour and had already filled out buckets and we tried to be picky. I think we used our shovel once to get a crystal out of the ground. The crystals were everywhere. The owner was super nice. He was at the dig site power washing and area. He was nice enough to power wash a few larger crystals that I found to make sure they were worth bringing ( they definitely were). You can't go wrong with whatever you pick up, even the ones that didn't have crystals, they have very beautiful agate bands. We are already planning a trip back this fall.

We went on a weekday. During the week you need to schedule it with the owner. However there is no extra charge. It was nice to have the whole place...

Found these beauties at Haunted Ridge near Cadet Mo. this area is so rich in minerals, making it ideal to find some of the coolest rocks! Check out this information I bet ya didn’t know about Missouri. This region contains the world's largest known concentration of Galena—shiny, cubic, silver-gray lead ore. Because of these massive deposits in counties like St. Francois, Iron, and Reynolds, Missouri is known as the "Lead State" and has fueled American industry for centuries. It’s not just lead! The ground here is packed with: • Sphalerite: The primary ore for Zinc 🔩 • Barite: A heavy mineral used in energy production 🔋 • Chalcopyrite: A beautiful brassy-yellow copper ore 🥉 • Cobalt & Nickel: Critical metals for modern tech 📱 ** 🧠 MO Geology Trivia:** Missouri’s official State Mineral is Galena! It naturally forms in perfect, geometric cubes that look like they were cut by a machine, but that’s just nature showing off. Next time you are driving south on Hwy 67, remember you are driving over billions of dollars of geologic history! Have you ever visited the Missouri Mines State Historic Site in Park Hills, or Haunted Ridge Rocks? Let us know in the comments! 👇 #Missouri #Geology #rocktok #rock #rockhound
