Several of the booths made by the facility were empty, and vendors had tents set up instead. Several of the booths were selling things that they didn't make, and it was easy to tell because the tag on those items indicated that these items were made overseas. This place used to be packed with vendors who made everything they were selling, even if it wasn't made right there, in front of you. Some of the event areas were empty as well. I worked there about 34 years ago for about 4 or 5 years, and nearly all the foods we sold were made from fresh food right there in the booth. After having been there a few times to visit all my old friends and reconnect with other people I had met over the years, I've seen the grounds, booths, and privies go downhill. People can get food that has been made and packaged from somewhere far away, or there are still a few foods that are cooked fresh while you wait. Not only am I disappointed due to the emptiness and run-down facilities, but I'm also heartbroken because the place I worked at as a young fella has changed so much that it's no longer fun to visit. This isn't just my opinion, I've also overheard other visitors talking about how the place has changed so much over the last several years. It's...
Read moreI've been going to the Renaissance festival for years and have always enjoyed the sights and sounds of this place. The shopping is phenomenal as is the entertainment. I do believe there could be improvements made on meal times. If you go there next season time yourself on when you take a break for food. Because I'm almost certain when you do everyone else is also doing the same thing which creates enormous lines and waiting periods to be fed. At some stations you may even encounter them running out of supplies so your selections will be limited. I do understand that some of the vendors who provide food are fundraising organizations but I do believe this is an opportunity for improvement to the lesson the effects of waiting and or running out of product. But other than that this is a wonderful way for a family to spend a day with the sights and sounds of things going on around them. There's something here for every member of the family. I recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and bringing a walking stick if needed because you will get...
Read moreWe had a great time at the festival. We went the last day. The highlights for us were definitely the musicians and historical craftspeople. They were knowledgeable and interesting. It was a cold day, but the mood was festive and cheerful. Great way to spend a day, very atmospheric. Our daughter lived the petting zoo and joust. Shout out to Lady Nancy and the Feral Flutist for fantastic performances. It's a 4/5 because there was So Much Smoke (cigarette, vape, cigar, marijuana). I breathed more smoke during our visit than I do in an entire year. The Muskogee Renn Fest has designated smoking areas, why can't this one do the same? The food lines were CRAZY: we waited for an hour to get lunch. (And the food vendors are marked "cash only" even though they do take/prefer cards). Not to over -compare to the fest in Muskogee, but that's what I'm used to. Lines there are 15 minutes at most because there are more vendors, and there's a lot...
