You got to pay for parking now, even when there's a zillion parking spaces open! I really did love this park. Used to drive up with my friends when I was a teenager from Tacoma. Now for the past 10 years it's right by my office and I come to take little 30 minute walks on my lunch. The fact that they decided the demand was so high that they wanted to charge for parking, to discourage as many people so it's not so busy? I scan the code today and it said that location had a fixed rate of $4 and some change for a little over 2 hours of parking. Such a bummer I stopped there for 20 or 30 minutes with my kids and it was not at all busy so the fact that I had to pay for parking today was ridiculous, let alone a stick straight for over five times the length of time I was going to spend there. It's not a bad Park, but just the fact that one of the two bathroom stalls doesn't even have a lock on it and only one sink works and then they have porta potties outside rubs me the wrong way when you're trying to get money out of it with no improvements. It would really pissed me off if I lived in...
Read moreI've been going to this park since I was a kid in the 80's. It's far different nowadays. Biggest change this year is the new field and additional parking lot. However, with that came some serious downsides. You can not launch a boat here anymore unless you reside within the city limits of Bonney lake, and are willing to buy a seasonal launch pass from the Bonney Lake Police Dept.
Addendum: The new field and parking lot are finished. Nice field, just don't count on being able to use it without a reservation. Also, ANYTIME from 10:00am-10:00pm, EVERY car must pay to park in any parking spot at Allan Yorke Park. If you think it's a good idea to try to go unpaid for your stay, it's only a $250.00 fine. My recommendation...go to literally ANYWHERE ELSE! At least you won't be standing on the side of the road in 90⁰ heat, waiting to get into a PUBLIC PARK that you paid to park across the street and now have wasted an hour of you meter waiting in line to get in!...
Read moreThis park has always been our go to when we don't go to the private parks available for the residents in the area. I however, after not being there for a year, to see the diminishing of care in regards to maintenance.
There are no locks on the bathrooms (for the women), which is a safety hazard for any ladies who use the handicap stall. I understand there is wildlife there, yet about half of the dock was covered and no attempt you can tell to clean that particular section, as well as I understand it is up to the civilian to bring their own swimming equipment, what use yo be available is no more (life vests). I do not know if Bonney Lake has limited maintenance crew for that particular section, but I am still sad to see the downgrade in care particularly over the year on it's own.
The experience itself is fun, my children had a blast - always do. I just hope this is a minor blooper in a possible just bad day in arriving before care day...
