We did a dusk drive out to porter preserve. After raining all day, our family of 6 were excited to get some fresh air. To our surprise after turning off the blacktop onto a dirt road the fog seemed to thicken and the road got a shade darker. "we are not getting out alive" said a nervous voice from the back seat. An ery silence filled the rental car as we drove by the cemetery with a cold stone fence. We parked by the sign with empty dog leashes slowly swinging in the still mist. The car doors didn't fly open like most times. We sat in silence. I asked who wanted to go for a walk? The only response was "I don't have bug spray on" We slowly backed up. At this point the only thing we could see was what the headlights would show us. I drove past the cemetery back to civilization.

Excellent preserve, paths were clear, the views along the rocks looking out in the inlers were excellent. The paths are not wheel chair accessible, they are hiking trails, lots of rocks and roots. However the trails were well maintained. There are many preserves in the area, and we were lucky enough to a couple from the area, and they gave suggestions for other preserves in the area....

This trail has thick forest and many rocky water vistas to take in. I walked it with my Mom, who is nearly eighty, the well-maintained trails were super accessible for her. There are MANY benches to take in the views. It smells both deliciously piney and sea salty. A rich diversity of birds inhabit the place. It is wonderful that Booth Bay has chosen to preserve these lands...

Best short hike in the area! Small parking area, but a great loop trail with lots of outward spikes to beautiful bay vistas! Most of the trail is deep shaded woods, with blue blazed vista. Fair amount of roots and stairs, but the best views and huge trees!
