We did a dusk drive out to porter preserve. After raining all day, our family of 6 were excited to get some fresh air. To our surprise after turning off the blacktop onto a dirt road the fog seemed to thicken and the road got a shade darker. "we are not getting out alive" said a nervous voice from the back seat. An ery silence filled the rental car as we drove by the cemetery with a cold stone fence. We parked by the sign with empty dog leashes slowly swinging in the still mist. The car doors didn't fly open like most times. We sat in silence. I asked who wanted to go for a walk? The only response was "I don't have bug spray on" We slowly backed up. At this point the only thing we could see was what the headlights would show us. I drove past the cemetery back to civilization.

There are MANY benches to take in the views. It smells both deliciously piney and sea salty. A rich diversity of birds inhabit the place. It is wonderful that Booth Bay has chosen to preserve these lands...
