Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument — Attraction in Borger

This place was unexpectedly awesome! I had no idea what to expect and it was wonderful. Sign up for one of the free daily ranger-guided tours (that's the only way to see the flints), because it's amazing- a hidden gem in the middle of the Texas panhandle. We had so much fun! Ranger Elaine was a wonderful guide and we learned a lot from our hike to the quarries with her! It was a great family outing. Bring lots of water to drink, I ended up being light headed from the hike in the heat but we were able to take breaks on the way up and down to drink and soak in some shade. Small national monument. If you want to actually see the quarry, you need to book in advance. However we went during the summer and the tour was cancelled due to the heat. If you are visiting Lake Meredith, its worth a visit, but not worth making a special trip for.
