Very nice moderate hikes that are away from the busy tourist areas. This was actually my first time here and I have lived here many years! From the Oak Hill Trailhead, you have two hike options. The Plateau Trail is 4.6 miles and has more elevation change than the 1.4 mile Oak Hill Trail. The two hiking trails actually cross each other as well as have some common sections. This gives you the opportunity to add some short loops onto the Oak Hill Trail allowing you to see the Hemlock Gorge and another small lake. Without having to restart an entirely new trail. The trails are very well marked and maintained. They are also open year round. One reviewer only gave this area four stars due to the mosquitos. I feel that it is wrong to deduct a star because you were not prepared! Always pack sunscreen, bug repellent and water! During the wet season this could be a very mosquito infested area. So be prepared!

There are 2 intersecting trails that are great for hikers and runners. Oak Hill is the shorter of the two, about 1.6 miles long. Plateau Trail loop, the longer of the two is around 4.2 miles long. Oak Hill, was originally intended for cross-country skiing but accommodates hikers and runners. Picnic tables available, with restrooms on sight. Well maintained trails, but the trail signs can get a bit confusing. Still, there's no way to get lost. Plenty of man-made bridges to cross, with two ponds to take some great photos. Sylvan pond can be reached by either trail, and the Meadowedge pond can be reached by the Plateau Trail.

We went to walk the 1.5 mile trail. There is plenty of parking. There are also Men's and Women's restrooms or at least pit toilets and hand sanitizer. The trail is well marked as other trails do intersect with this trail. The trail is almost completely wooded except the part next to Sylvan Lake. There are several exposed tree roots on the path so be careful. It was a beautiful, quiet walk.
